On the morning of July 20, the company that owns the two cruise ships Sea Octopus and Ambassador Ha Long issued an apology and admitted that it had made a “serious and unacceptable mistake” by still carrying out the fireworks display on the evening of July 19 - the time when authorities were urgently searching for victims of the capsized tourist boat in Ha Long Bay.

The company that owns the Sea Octopus yacht committed to reviewing all internal processes, especially the emergency information exchange stage, and at the same time apologized to the community and committed to accompanying the victim's family in the coming time.

According to its introduction, this company is Sealife Group, commonly known as Huong Hai, one of the pioneers in operating overnight cruises in Vietnam. This company owns a fleet of 4 steel-hulled ships. In addition to Ha Long Bay tours, this unit also offers tours to Lan Ha Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, and Nha Trang Bay.

According to the National Business Registration Portal, the owner of the Sea Octopus yacht was established in April 2017 under the name Huong Hai Tourism One Member Co., Ltd. The company registered a charter capital of VND10 billion. The main registered business line is short-term accommodation.

Business owner and Director, Legal Representative is Mr. Bui Duc Long (born in 1977).

In November 2017, the company increased its charter capital to VND35 billion. The total number of employees according to tax declaration at this time was 20 people. By March 2018, the company changed its name to Sealife Group Company Limited. In July 2018, the company increased its capital to VND83 billion.

Last April, the company changed its business registration. The position of business owner, director and legal representative was transferred from Mr. Bui Duc Long to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Duc (born in 1979). At this time, the company had 80 employees according to tax declaration information.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Duc is also the legal representative of Sealife Group Company Limited - Cat Hai branch, Diem Dien Logistic Import Export Service Trading Company Limited, Nha Trang branch of Sealife Group Company.

Similarly, the company that owns the Ambassador cruise ship said it would suspend all entertainment activities on board and send its condolences to the families of the victims. The cruise ship’s website lists the owner as Asia Luxury Cruises Corporation (APC Corporation).

This company was established in January 2021 with a charter capital of 10 billion VND. The main business line is inland waterway passenger transport.

The shareholders include 5 individuals. Nguyen Truong Giang, Pham Thanh Chien, Nguyen Cao Son, each contributed 3 billion VND (equivalent to 30% of the capital). Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy and Phan Thi Thu Hien each contributed 500 million VND (5% of the capital).

Two individuals, Nguyen Cao Son and Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, have the same permanent address. Nguyen Truong Giang and Phan Thi Thu Hien have the same permanent address.

Mr. Nguyen Cao Son (born in 1978) is the General Director and Legal Representative of the enterprise.
