It is reported that coastal areas in southern China, including Hainan, Guangdong and Guangxi, have been put on high alert as Typhoon Wipha makes landfall. At 8:30 a.m. on July 20, Hainan raised its flood and typhoon emergency response level from level IV to level III. Strong winds and heavy rains are expected to affect the island province from July 20 to 22.
