In particular, the Resolution of the Executive Committee of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee on developing Dien Bien tourism to 2025, with a vision to 2030, has set the goal of making tourism a key economic sector, an attractive tourist destination in the Northwest region and the whole country, and at the same time, a place to educate the revolutionary tradition for the younger generation.

The specific target is to welcome over 1.45 million tourists in 2025, including 300,000 international tourists; total revenue from tourism activities will reach over 2,400 billion VND. By 2030, the number of tourists will reach over 2.65 million, including 600,000 international tourists; total revenue from tourism activities will reach over 5,000 billion VND.

Dien Bien has 19 ethnic groups living together, each with its own unique cultural heritage, creating a diverse and rich picture of ethnic cultures.

Clearly identifying the potential and advantages of natural resources and cultural resources as particularly important resources, in recent years Dien Bien province has implemented many solutions to build unique, different and competitive tourism products, aiming towards sustainable tourism development.

In 2025, a series of typical events were held such as the 2025 Ban Flower Festival and the 8th Dien Bien Province Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival; the live show 'Uva Legend'; Cherry Blossom Festival, Ban Phu Citadel Festival; Thai Xoe Art Festival... with many unique activities that attracted a large number of tourists. In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, Dien Bien province welcomed 824.9 thousand tourists, reaching 56.9% of the plan, of which international visitors reached nearly 7.5 thousand, reaching 2.5% of the plan. Total revenue from tourism activities reached 1,492.1 billion VND, reaching 62.2% of the plan.
