Historic milestone on the day Arsenal overwhelmed Tottenham

Arsenal fly high in the Premier League.

Eberechi Eze was very close to joining Tottenham last summer. However, Kai Havertz suffered a serious injury and a call from Mikel Arteta changed Eze's future. The Englishman chose to join Emirates and is proving to be the right decision.

In his first North London derby, Eze shone brightly with a hat-trick against Tottenham. According to Opta , this was the 300th hat-trick in Premier League history, and Eze became the 23rd Arsenal player to do so in the top flight of English football, a number no other club can reach.

After just three minutes, Eze showed his threat with a pass to Declan Rice, but the England midfielder's shot was not difficult enough to beat Vicario. Arsenal completely dominated the early stages of the game as Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka constantly tested the Spurs defence, forcing Cristian Romero and Udogie to stretch their bodies to defend.

Arsenal's efforts were rewarded in the 36th minute. Merino set up Leandro Trossard to turn and finish, opening the scoring. Just five minutes later, Eze doubled the lead by beating two defenders before firing past goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Eze brings sadness to Spurs.

Eze continued to torment Spurs as the second half began, finishing precisely into the bottom corner after a pass from Jurrien Timber. Although Richarlison gave Tottenham hope with a daring long-range shot in the 55th minute, that was all the visitors could muster. Eze completed his hat-trick after a beautiful combination with Trossard, putting an end to Spurs' run in the 76th minute.

The win extended Arsenal's unbeaten run to 15 games and kept them firmly at the top of the table, six points clear of Chelsea. Tottenham meanwhile continued their slump, winning just one of their last five games and dropping to ninth place.
