Representatives from Road Management Area 1, Vietnam Road Administration ( Ministry of Transport ) have conducted an inspection and issued an initial conclusion regarding the quality of the Van Lang bridge construction following reports of exposed bridge piers due to the significant drop in the Red River water level.
On the morning of January 14th, a representative from Road Management Area I (Vietnam Road Administration) confirmed the following: VietNamNet reported that the unit had sent personnel to directly inspect the safety of the Van Lang bridge construction.
"Three days ago, following a report by VietNamNet, we sent officials to directly inspect the bridge's safety. During the inspection, we found that the bridge is still safe."
Regarding the images of the bridge pillars that the press reported, we have checked and confirmed that they do not affect the safety of the bridge," a representative of Road Management Area I informed.
However, the source stated that the sand dredging activities taking place near the Van Lang bridge area are causing concern because the riverbed is sinking, which will affect the quality of the structure in the long run.

Previously, Mr. Le Minh Nghia, Director of Phu Ha BOT Co., Ltd. (the investor of Van Lang Bridge), stated that the entire pile foundation system of Van Lang Bridge was constructed using the bored pile method, ensuring a permanent structure.
Despite assuring everyone that the bridge was safe, Mr. Nghia exclaimed, "It's unbelievable that the riverbed has dropped by about 4-5 meters compared to the calculations. As far as I know, the height of the bridge pier is 2.5 meters, and the foundation was constructed using deep piles. Therefore, under normal circumstances, the bridge pier would be submerged in water."

As VietNamNet previously reported, due to the low water level of the Red River, the foundations of the Van Lang bridge pillars have been exposed recently.
