Firmly consolidate the people's security posture

Promoting the tradition of the Heroic Unit, in recent years, Lang Son Provincial Police have always focused on and effectively implemented many mass mobilization models, paying close and timely attention to the lives of people in border areas.

Support for disadvantaged children

Recently, together with officers and soldiers of Lang Son Provincial Police, we visited Ly Thu Tra, born in 2014 in Thuy Hung Commune, Lang Son Province. Tra is an orphan and is currently being sponsored by the Provincial Police Women's Association.

Talking about the situation of her granddaughter who just finished 5th grade, Mrs. Lang Thi Bay, Tra's grandmother, shared: "Since her parents passed away, Tra has lived with her grandparents, helping her grandmother cook, sweep the house, and herd buffalo every day. She is a shy, quiet child but affectionate. Thanks to the police officers who wholeheartedly helped and supported us, our burden has been reduced. I can only thank them and keep them in my heart."

Looking at the set of paints neatly placed on the table, Tra's eyes lit up with joy: "I love drawing, I wish I could be an artist when I grow up. I am grateful to the police officers! They often visit me and buy me school supplies and paints. They say, if I try to study hard and be good, then when I grow up, I can make any dream come true," Tra shared innocently.

Responding to the "Godmother" Program launched by the Women's Union at higher levels, the Provincial Police Women's Union proactively advised the Provincial Police leadership to direct and assign forces to implement screening and selection of orphaned children and children with especially difficult family circumstances to support raising, caring for and educating them . Up to now, the Provincial Police Women's Union at all levels has received support to raise and care for 22 children with a total budget of more than 600 million VND.

“Promoting the effectiveness of the “Godmother” Program, the provincial police leaders have directed and mobilized maximum resources to continue implementing the “Bright Tomorrow” Program. In addition to helping orphans and homeless children, this program also aims to care for and manage the education of children living in special family conditions and circumstances (such as parents serving prison sentences, divorce, domestic violence, etc.), children at risk of violating the law and social evils. Up to now, the program has received attention, companionship, and support from units and philanthropists to help 30 orphans and children in special circumstances in the area,” shared Captain Phung Thi Oanh, Deputy Head of the Women's Department of Lang Son Provincial Police.

We were led by the prison guards of the Provincial Police Detention Center to a very special building with a signboard named “Kindergarten.” Baby Ngo Khanh An is the daughter of prisoner Ngo Thi Thi, from Hong Phong Commune, Cao Loc District (formerly). Ngo Thi Thi is serving a sentence for robbery.

Sharing with us, Thi said: “I was arrested when I was 4 months pregnant. During my pregnancy in the camp, until I gave birth, I was always taken care of by nurses and officers. I am a single mother. All diapers, milk, and medicine were given by the prison officers. Baby An had to drink formula, and I did not have any milk to breastfeed, so the officers gave me milk to feed the baby.”

Captain Chu Thi Kim Oanh, President of the Women's Association of the Provincial Police Detention Center, said: "As women, the sacred maternal love is always present, so seeing the children in the detention center with their mother, deprived and in difficulty, I feel very sorry. Some women collect old clothes, some donate toys, and the whole unit donates money to support the children. We do everything we can to help the children avoid deprivation."

According to Colonel Trieu Tuan Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Director of Lang Son Provincial Police, the implementation of the "Godmother" program and the "Bright Tomorrow" program has profound humanistic significance, demonstrating the care and support of the Lang Son Police force in general and the Lang Son Police Women's Association in particular in the care and education of orphans, helping them have a solid foundation in their journey of growing up and maturing. The activities contribute to building a beautiful image of police officers for a peaceful life and for the happiness of the people.

For the people to serve

Huu Lung Commune was established on the basis of merging Huu Lung Town, Dong Tan Commune and Ho Son Commune. This is considered a complex area, with many potential risks of violating social order.

Right from the time of receiving the area, the police force of Huu Lung commune selected and assigned 3 comrades to directly participate in activities with the village community, closely following and grasping the situation of the people. At the same time, the unit coordinated with the Party cell secretary, village chief, and prestigious people in the village to actively propagate the law to the people. After a short time of drastic implementation, the crime rate and violations of social security and order in Huu Lung commune decreased significantly.

“Since the commune police officers came directly to the area, the people have been very excited. Social evils have decreased, we are very secure, enthusiastic about doing business and working. It has been a long time since Bai Vang village has been so peaceful,” said Mr. Duong Dang Tu, Head of the Security and Order Team of Bai Vang village.

Lieutenant Colonel Doan Van Giang, Chief of Huu Lung Commune Police, confided: “The people’s trust and love for the force will form a sense of responsibility to always comply with the policies, guidelines, and laws of the state. People have actively participated with the Commune Police in the fight against crime.”

With the spirit of serving the people, the police force of Huu Lung commune actively supports people in preventing natural disasters. On July 12, as soon as receiving the news that some households had landslides near their houses, the police force of the commune quickly went to the scene to support the family of Mr. Pham Xuan Nghia, Cau Muoi area, Huu Lung commune to overcome the consequences and mobilized some households living in areas at risk of landslides to evacuate safely.

“The practical and timely actions of the commune police force have contributed to strengthening the bond between the police force and the people, while demonstrating a sense of responsibility and service to the people in disaster prevention work in the commune,” affirmed comrade Le Thuy Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Huu Lung commune.

After implementing the two-tier local government model, based on the denunciations of the people, Tan Thanh Commune Police arrested two cases of illegal trafficking of 84 heroin packages, and transferred them to the Provincial Police Investigation Agency for handling according to their authority. This is one of the first units in the whole province to achieve achievements in preventing drug crimes after July 1.

Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Ha Van Hieu, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Khuon Dau Village, Tan Thanh Commune, said that the security and order forces at the grassroots level always closely coordinate with the Commune Police in ensuring security and order, especially in propagating and reminding people about street vendors, beggars, and encroachment on traffic corridors in the Bac Le Temple area; patrolling to ensure security and order, arresting criminals, checking drug addicts, suspected illegal drug users, and maintaining peace for the people.

Major General Nguyen Tien Trung, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Party Secretary, Director of Lang Son Provincial Police, said: “In recent times, the security and order situation in the province has been basically maintained stable. The application of the two-level local government model plays a key role in consolidating and building the political system at the grassroots level in conjunction with building a mass movement to protect national security, contributing to ensuring security and order. In the coming time, the Provincial Police will continue to implement many programs and models to help develop the socio-economy, eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, improve the material and spiritual life of the people, thereby contributing to the successful implementation of the political tasks set by the Provincial Police Party Committee.”
