The incident occurred in the summer of 2020, Quincy Promes stabbed his brother after an argument at a birthday party. The cause of the conflict was a stolen necklace. The former Dutch international is in Russia and he did not attend the trial. NOS added that Quincy Promes is still determined to stay in Russia. The court in the Netherlands confirmed that the authorities in this country currently have no plans to bring the 31-year-old player back to serve his sentence.

The court hearing Quincy Promes' case had ruled that aggravated assault would normally carry a year in prison, but because Quincy Promes was a famous football player who had failed to maintain his image, the sentence was increased. Before the official sentence was issued, Quincy Promes denied everything and claimed to the police that the perpetrator was someone else. However, according to the court's announcement, two witnesses saw Quincy Promes stab his brother in the knee after the party in Abcoude. At the same time, evidence from the conversation between the two parties over the phone was still kept, so the official sentence was given.

"Promes showed a lack of clarity about his actions. This is extremely worrying and serious," the judge said.

However, according to Dutch police, the amount of cocaine could have risen to £75 million if it had been successfully brought into the country.
