On January 9, the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi confirmed that it had successfully performed surgery on a young man who was stabbed by a 1.2 meter long iron bar between his chin and neck.
Accordingly, at dawn the same day, a young man named CDB (18 years old, residing in Trung Hoa commune, Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province) was taken to the hospital with an iron bar piercing through the area between his chin and neck.
When admitted to the hospital, the iron bar was still in the neck and had not been removed. The length of the iron bar was about 1.2m, it was a round iron bar with a diameter of about 2.5cm, and both ends were not pointed.
Because the wound was severe and located near the aorta, the young man lost a lot of blood.
After being admitted, the young man was taken into emergency surgery. The surgery was completed the same morning. The long iron rod was removed. Doctors performed the necessary procedures to help stabilize the patient.
The patient is currently having a tracheostomy and is being monitored and cared for at the hospital's maxillofacial department.
Trung Hoa Commune authorities said the incident occurred on the evening of January 8 in Thuong Hoa Commune. However, the specific cause of the iron bar piercing the young man’s neck is currently under investigation by the police.
The possibility of involvement in a local scuffle cannot be ruled out.
