Saving the lives of two teenagers with brain tumors and brain hemorrhage

On February 27, Ninh Thuan General Hospital announced that the hospital had successfully performed surgery on two patients with brain tumors and cerebral hemorrhage in their teens.

Patient TAT (16 years old, residing in Tan Son Town, Ninh Son District, Ninh Thuan) was admitted to the hospital on February 21, in a coma, with weakness in the right side of his body. According to the patient's family, the patient suffered from frequent headaches that lasted for a while.

After surgery, patient T. was awake.

After examination, the doctor ordered a CT scan of the brain and discovered that patient T. had intraventricular hemorrhage, left parietal hemorrhage, spreading into the bilateral ventricular system, and cerebral falx hemorrhage.

The team of doctors and nurses from the Neurosurgery Department performed emergency surgery to drain the bleeding part of the patient. The patient is now conscious and is being monitored, treated, and cared for by doctors and nurses in the Emergency Resuscitation Department.

NINH THUAN GENERAL HOSPITAL

Patient NQD (14 years old, residing in Phuoc Diem commune, Thuan Nam district, Ninh Thuan) was admitted to the hospital on February 15, with symptoms of headache lasting more than 1 month accompanied by dizziness, a lump in the head. Through examination and paraclinical tests, the doctor discovered that patient D. had a meningioma invading the superior sagittal sinus - thought to be a meningioma.

The patient underwent a 4-hour surgery by a team of neurosurgeons to remove all tumor tissue under a microscope, the tumor tissue had penetrated the dura mater and underlying brain parenchyma. The patient is now conscious, responsive, and has no signs of weakness or neurological damage. The patient is expected to be discharged in the next few days.

Doctor Nguyen Thanh Hai, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery, Ninh Thuan General Hospital, recommends that parents, when discovering that their children have symptoms of prolonged headaches, should take them to the doctor early for timely treatment. When patients with brain tumors or cerebral hemorrhage are given emergency treatment during the "golden" time, the patient will recover soon and will not become a burden to the family or society after treatment.
