The vibrant youth of Ho Chi Minh City literature

On the morning of October 21, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City and the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association organized a seminar on Southern Youth Literature, in a series of exciting activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days.

Young writers from Ho Chi Minh City such as Bui Tieu Quyen, Nguyen Dinh Khoa, Tran Duc Tin, Vo Thu Huong... and guests: Dr. Ho Khanh Van, Dr. - poet La Mai Thi Gia, Associate Professor - Dr. - writer Bui Thanh Truyen had the opportunity to discuss with readers about current issues of Southern literature, which has opened up space after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, young writers in the era of AI technology "sweeping" and what to do to have more good works to serve the public...

Writer Bui Tieu Quyen - Young Writer Award of Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association in 2014, Children's Literature Award (Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, 2021) - shared: "Young writers always have abundant energy, always feel urged by the hustle and bustle of urban life every day. Generations continue to follow, inspiring each other to make the Southern literary river full of inner strength, flowing forever".

Writer Vo Thu Huong, member of the Children's Literature Council (Vietnam Writers Association), affirmed: "Not only is Ho Chi Minh City a major economic center of the country, it also has a team of many new, dynamic writers and a strong readership, creating a great boost for the youth of Southern literature to be always persistent and long-lasting."

Young Author Award of Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association in 2024 Nguyen Dinh Khoa brings a vivid story about AI technology affecting the creative work of young people. Nguyen Dinh Khoa believes that a very worrying reality is that AI is deeply intervening in the work of writers, but he affirms: "Clearly when reading a work written with the intervention of AI, readers can immediately recognize which is created by AI and which is written by humans, because human words are "seeds of the soul", the result of a lot of time and intelligence".

At the seminar, the guests also noted that literary writing competitions in newspapers and universities in Ho Chi Minh City are important "charging stations" on the journey of young literature, which is always attractive but also full of hardship.
