The Vietnamese women's badminton team has 6 members: Nguyen Thuy Linh, Bui Bich Phuong, Pham Thi Dieu Ly, Pham Thi Khanh, Tran Thi Phuong Thuy and Vu Thi Trang. Nguyen Thuy Linh is the most highly rated player, currently ranked 22nd in the world rankings.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian women's badminton team has 10 players. Among them, the highest ranked player is Karupathevan Letshanaa (ranked 42nd in the world). Ling Ching Wong is ranked 44th in the world. Although the Malaysian women's badminton team does not have any player ranked above Thuy Linh in the world rankings, they are considered extremely strong in the women's team event because of their even strength.
