Train tickets for the 2026 Lunar New Year have been widely sold since September 20, 2025, and by October 20, 2025, 64,200 tickets had been sold. Before Tet, the number of remaining train tickets is as follows: From February 3 to February 9, 2026 (before December 23) and from February 14 to February 16, 2026 (December 27 to 29), there are still train tickets available to all stations.
On peak days from February 10 to February 14, 2026 (ie from December 23 to 27, At Ty year), the total number of remaining tickets on all trains is about 2,500 seats. Transport discount policies for the Lunar New Year 2026: Passengers buying long-distance tickets (from 10 days or more) with a distance of over 900 km, the discount is from 5 - 15% for odd-numbered trains before Tet (from February 3 to February 17, 2026) and even-numbered trains after Tet (from February 21 to March 8, 2026); 3% discount on ticket prices for passengers buying tickets for Thong Nhat trains departing from Saigon station on February 15, 2026 (ie December 28) and traveling from 1,000 km or more; 2 - 12% discount on ticket prices for passengers buying group tickets of 11 people or more; depending on the number, time of ticket purchase and schedule, there are different discounts; 5% discount on return ticket prices for passengers buying round-trip tickets; 10 - 20% discount on ticket prices for students of universities, academies, colleges, professional and vocational high schools.
Regular discount programs: Discounts for social policy subjects such as Vietnamese heroic mothers, war invalids, people infected with toxic chemicals, people with severe disabilities, the elderly, children from 6 to under 10 years old, students of universities, academies, colleges, professional and vocational high schools; passengers with customer cards; customers are only entitled to one highest preferential discount (not cumulative).
Regulations on selling extra seat tickets for Tet 2026: The Railway industry sells extra seat tickets for children (from 6 to under 10 years old) when passengers have purchased sleeper or seat tickets and request to buy an additional seat ticket for children; each adult passenger ticket can only be purchased with one additional child seat ticket, when boarding the train, they are arranged to use the same seat as adults; 4 extra seat tickets for officers and soldiers of the armed forces, police on sudden business trips, military service, enlistment; reporters on duty.
Train tickets for Tet 2026 are sold at the following websites: www.dsvn.vn; vetau.com.vn, vetauonline.vn; giare.vetau.vn; train stations, ticket sales points and ticket agents managed by the railway; sold through train ticket sales applications on mobile devices, e-wallets: Momo, VNPay , ShopeePay, ZaloPay, ViettelPay, Banking applications (Smart Banking) ... or through the ticket sales hotline of Saigon station 1900 1520, Hanoi station 1900 0109).
Regulations on passenger ticket exchange and return: The exchange and return deduction is 30% of the price printed on the Train Pass for train tickets traveling on peak days. Other days still apply the ticket exchange/return fee according to regulations. Individual tickets must be exchanged/returned 24 hours or more before the train departure time stated on the ticket; group tickets must be exchanged 48 hours or more before the train departure time stated on the ticket.
In addition, the Railway industry has opened ticket sales for Thong Nhat trains that run regularly during the 2026 New Year holiday as follows: Trains SE1/SE2, SE3/SE4, SE5/SE6, SE7/SE8 (Saigon - Hanoi), Trains SE21/SE22 (Saigon - Da Nang ), Trains SNT1/SNT2 (Saigon - Nha Trang), Trains SPT1/SPT2 (Saigon - Phan Thiet). When passenger demand increases, VTĐS JSC will organize additional trains and add more cars to best serve customer needs.
