The exhibition, organized by the Da Nang Museum in collaboration with the Antiquities Association and collectors nationwide, displays and introduces more than 200 rare antiques dating from the 15th century to the Nguyen Dynasty, made of many different materials and forms. This is the first time a large-scale exhibition has been held in Da Nang city, with the gathering of many typical antique associations such as: Thang Long - Hanoi Antiques Association, Dong Xua - Hai Duong Antiques Association, Pho Hien - Hung Yen Antiques Club, Ho Chi Minh City Antiques Association and local private collectors.
The artifacts on display at the exhibition belong to many valuable collections such as: gilded wooden furniture, mother-of-pearl inlays from the Nguyen Dynasty; Chu Dau pottery from the 15th - 16th centuries; ceramics from the Le - Trinh period to the Nguyen Dynasty (17th - 20th centuries); enameled bronzeware from the Nguyen Dynasty; royal costumes and gold thread embroidery paintings from the Nguyen Dynasty; and many Chinese ceramic antiques from the 18th - 19th centuries...
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of Da Nang Museum Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien emphasized: The exhibition is an opportunity to honor the special values of antiquities as "historical witnesses" that contribute to connecting the past and the present; at the same time, encourage the community to participate in preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage. Mr. Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien also said that many valuable domestic artifacts are still wandering abroad and need the cooperation of organizations and individuals to bring the antiquities back and introduce them to the public.
During the opening ceremony, the Da Nang Museum received 96 antiques donated by 16 private collectors. The donated artifacts are diverse in type and age, such as: 19th century bronze incense burner by collector Hoang Van Kim; enamelware by collector Tran Dinh Nam; Ly - Tran dynasties ceramic bowl by collector Tran Thanh Hai; Dong Son culture bronze axe and Tran dynasty ceramic bowl by collector Pham Van Dan...
The exhibition “Da Nang - Echoes of the Past” is open to the public from July 11 to September 12, 2025. Through the exhibition, the Organizing Committee hopes that the public will have more opportunities to learn and explore the historical, artistic and spiritual values of Vietnamese antiques, contributing to enriching the cultural life of the community and inspiring the passion for collecting and preserving heritage in society.
