The Da Nang Department of Health said that the number of COVID-19 cases is increasing in Thailand and some countries in Southeast Asia. From January 1 to May 10, 2025, Thailand recorded nearly 54,000 COVID-19 infections and 16 deaths, the increase in COVID-19 cases related to the Omicron sub-variant XBB.1.16.

In Vietnam, since the beginning of 2025, there have been over 150 sporadic cases of COVID-19 recorded in several provinces and cities, with no deaths; no concentrated outbreaks have been recorded, however, there has been a slight increase in the past 3 weeks. Currently, COVID-19 has been identified as an endemic disease in Vietnam; it is forecasted that in the coming time, more new cases may be recorded, especially during the peak summer tourist season.
Pursuant to Plan 67 dated March 4, 2025 of the People's Committee of Da Nang City on prevention and control of infectious diseases in 2025 in the area, the Department of Health of Da Nang City requests relevant agencies to proactively implement measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic, control the epidemic situation, prevent the epidemic from recurring, and contribute to improving and taking care of people's health.
Accordingly, the Da Nang Department of Health recommends wearing masks in public places, on public transport, and at medical facilities. Wash hands regularly with clean water, soap, or antiseptic solution. Limit gathering in crowded places if not necessary. Increase physical activity, physical training, and proper nutrition. Monitor your health and go to a medical facility immediately if you have symptoms of fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
People coming to and returning from countries with a high number of COVID-19 cases need to proactively monitor their health status to prevent and combat COVID-19 for themselves, their families and close contacts. Actively monitor the COVID-19 epidemic situation, other infectious diseases at home and abroad, recommendations from the Ministry of Health, Department of Health, central and local professional agencies to actively implement measures to improve and protect the health of themselves, their families and those around them at work, accommodation and in the community.
The Da Nang Department of Health also requested the City Center for Disease Control (CDC Da Nang) to strengthen supervision and closely monitor the COVID-19 epidemic situation; deploy measures to prevent and control COVID-19 at facilities at risk of spreading the disease.
At the same time, CDC Da Nang is responsible for continuing to update the COVID-19 epidemic situation, promptly advising the Department of Health to advise the City People's Committee to direct related issues, ensuring effective control, prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic in the city according to regulations.
