Congress of ethnic minorities in Minh Long district

(Baoquangngai.vn) - On the morning of May 11, Minh Long district organized the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of the district in 2024.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Dinh Thi Hong Minh; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Tan Duc, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Bui Duc Tho and more than 150 delegates representing more than 14,000 ethnic minorities in the district attended the congress.

Over the past 5 years, the socio -economic situation of Minh Long district has grown quite well. The total production value by the end of 2023 is estimated at more than 752 billion VND, an increase of more than 33% over the same period in 2019. Of which, the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production increased by 24.66%, the value of industrial production increased by 35.75%, and trade and services increased by 39.79%.

Programs and policies for ethnic minorities and particularly disadvantaged areas have been implemented promptly and effectively; infrastructure has been invested in. The district has supported more than 20 community production development projects and 11 poverty reduction models for more than 700 households.

School and classroom facilities are increasingly invested in and improved; 99% of ethnic minority children from preschool to boarding school. Every year, the rate of students completing primary school is 100%; the rate of students graduating from secondary school is 100%; 5/5 commune health stations meet national health standards. The poverty rate by the end of 2023 will decrease to 16.78%. The average number of new rural criteria is 16.4 criteria/commune.

Speaking at the congress, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien praised the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Minh Long district over the past 5 years. He suggested that Minh Long district continue to promote the tradition of patriotism and the strength of national solidarity, and continue to focus on directing the effective implementation of rapid and sustainable poverty reduction.

Strongly innovate administrative reform; focus on consolidating the grassroots political system; building a strong grassroots party and government; improving the quality and effectiveness of the activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations; promoting the development of party members among ethnic minorities; creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere to achieve achievements to welcome the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Quang Ngai province.

At the congress, the People's Committee of Minh Long district awarded certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 10 individuals with outstanding achievements; elected 20 delegates to attend the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Quang Ngai province.
