In 2 days (May 15 and 16), the 16th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Thuong Xuan district, term 2024-2029, took place.

During the past term, the Fatherland Front at all levels and member organizations of Thuong Xuan district have made efforts and responsibilities to overcome difficulties, actively innovated the content and methods of operation, effectively implemented 5 action programs and targets and tasks set out in the Resolution of the Fatherland Front Congress of Thuong Xuan district for the 2019-2024 term, contributing to building and consolidating the great national unity bloc.

Implementing the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", in the past term, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations participated in mobilizing people to donate nearly 129,000 ^m2 of land, contribute over 45,000 working days and materials (converted to over 7 billion VND), invest in building infrastructure and renovating residential houses... Up to now, the whole district has achieved 202 criteria (an average of 13.7 criteria/commune), 6 communes have met the new rural standards (1 commune has met the advanced new rural standards), 41 villages have been recognized as new rural villages (5 villages have met the model new rural standards).

Responding to the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind", the district Fatherland Front has chaired and coordinated the mobilization of the establishment of the district-level "For the Poor" Fund, which has been supported by officials, civil servants, workers, philanthropists, and businesses. In 5 years, 1,055 billion VND was mobilized; at the same time, 4,142 billion VND was mobilized and received from the superior "For the Poor" Fund and other resources in society, supporting the construction of 93 new houses and repairing 3 Great Solidarity houses with a total amount of 4,155 billion VND; supporting families affected by risks, illness, natural disasters, fires, and supporting poor households with 1,168 billion VND. Implemented 21 projects and tasks to reduce poverty with a monetary value of 1.43 billion VND... The above activities have practically contributed to reducing the rate of poor and disadvantaged households. Up to now, the poverty rate of the whole district is 15.13% (2023).

The district Fatherland Front has chaired and coordinated the mobilization of the "For the Poor" Fund with over 4.1 billion VND, supported the construction of 93 new houses and repaired 3 Great Solidarity houses; supported families affected by risks, illness, natural disasters, fires, and poor households, contributing to reducing the poverty rate of the whole district to 15.1% (in 2023)... Promoting the people's mastery, participating in Party building and government building is increasingly clearer in terms of organization and implementation methods; social supervision and criticism activities are implemented with increasingly strict and effective processes.

The opinions discussed at the Congress also seriously reviewed and frankly pointed out the shortcomings and limitations in the organization and operation methods of the District Fatherland Front Committee for the 2019-2024 term; at the same time, proposed 11 targets and 6 action programs of the District Fatherland Front Committee for the 2024-2029 term with key goals, tasks and specific solutions.

Speaking at the congress, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Le Hong Phong and Secretary of the District Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Luong acknowledged and highly appreciated the outstanding results achieved by the Fatherland Front at all levels of Thuong Xuan district; at the same time, frankly pointed out the limitations in directing and organizing the implementation of the tasks of the Front in the past term.

In order for the Front's work to continue to develop and bring about practical results, the comrades suggested that the district Fatherland Front continue to pay attention to performing well the role and functions of the Fatherland Front in the current period, mobilizing the people to actively participate in building the Party, building the government, and the political system to become increasingly stronger. Regularly coordinate closely with authorities at all levels to organize meetings with voters, dialogue, listen to the people, and create high consensus in society. Effectively carry out the work of supervision and social criticism in the spirit of Directive 18 and regulations of the Party and State. Innovate and improve the quality of implementing campaigns and patriotic emulation movements in a practical and effective direction, focusing on residential areas, promoting the initiative and self-management of the community.

With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Development", the Congress democratically elected 63 members to join the Fatherland Front Committee of Thuong Xuan district, term XVI, 2024 - 2029. At the first conference, the Fatherland Front Committee of the district, term XVI, elected 5 members to join the Standing Committee of the Fatherland Front Committee of the district. Ms. Cam Thi Phuong, member of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, was re-elected as Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of the district, term XVI, 2024 - 2029. The Congress also elected 8 members to attend the 15th Provincial Fatherland Front Congress, term 2024-2029.
