During the visit, on May 19, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi and the delegation of Central Party Committee members, Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong, the delegation of the Central Inspection Committee, the Central delegation of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union , the St. Petersburg City Government, along with a large number of students, pupils and people of the two countries, came to lay flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh at Ho Chi Minh Square.
On May 21, the delegation laid flowers at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery, a place to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives in the Great Patriotic War to protect national independence and world peace.
The main activity to kick off the Vietnam Week organized by the St. Petersburg City Committee for Foreign Affairs was the Seminar to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh on May 19. In their videotaped speeches, Governor of St. Petersburg A. Beglov and Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang both affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh was the one who laid the foundation for the Vietnam-Russia relationship – a friendship that has developed over time and history. St. Petersburg City has always had special affection and respect for President Ho Chi Minh. President Ho Chi Minh is forever a loyal friend of the people of the former Soviet Union and the people of Russia today.

Speaking at the workshop, the Ambassador affirmed that the Vietnam-Russia relationship began more than 100 years ago, when Uncle Ho first set foot in Russia. The Ambassador emphasized: “It is the great thought of President Ho Chi Minh 'For freedom for my country, happiness for my people' as well as the path of the people of the Soviet Union in the past, Russia today, building a powerful, independent, and free country that has united the two nations. And it can be said that, thanks to the October Revolution in 1917 and the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, the August Revolution of Vietnam was successful and on September 2, 1945, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the first workers' and peasants' state in Southeast Asia, was born. General Secretary To Lam, in his speech at the Russian Presidential Academy on May 10, said that perhaps nowhere else is there such sincere, deep, and enthusiastic affection for Russia as in Vietnam”.
On the same day, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi and the Embassy delegation met and worked with Mr. N. Kolotov, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Institute. The Ambassador congratulated the Ho Chi Minh Institute on its 15th anniversary and highly appreciated the contributions of the Ho Chi Minh Institute and Mr. Kolotov personally in researching and teaching about Ho Chi Minh's thought, his life and career, and Vietnamese history and culture. The Ho Chi Minh Institute has been helping to train many Vietnamese language experts to serve the diplomatic work between the two countries.
During his working trip, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi attended cultural and educational activities such as the Vietnamese Language and Culture Festival at High School No. 488 in Vyborgski District, where there is a space for President Ho Chi Minh; Herzen State Pedagogical University, a school with a tradition of training many experts for Vietnam, to spread the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh, promote the image, culture, cuisine and people of Vietnam; attended a music program performed by Vietnamese singers and students at the 20th International Book Exhibition in St. Petersburg; attended the Painting Exhibition about Vietnam by Kyrgyz artist Tuman Zhumabaev, who had special feelings for Vietnam and visited Vietnam 24 times when he was alive.

Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi and the Embassy's staff accompanied the delegation led by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan to attend the 11th Nevsky International Ecological Congress (from May 22-23) with the theme "Earth: harmony between humans and nature"; attended meetings with Mr. Yatskin AV, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council and Mr. Bondarenko NL, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg. The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries, including local legislative bodies, towards new cooperation opportunities.
The visit once again affirmed the efforts and determination of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia and Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi personally in implementing the results of General Secretary To Lam's visit to Russia to strengthen the Vietnam-Russia friendship, opening up new, long-term, comprehensive and continuously developing cooperation opportunities in the future.
