Farmers in Thai Nguyen are focusing on winter crop production and preparing necessary conditions for spring crop production. For the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop to be successful, agricultural materials play a very important role. Mr. Nguyen Ta, Head of the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, affirmed that Thai Nguyen has prepared enough seeds and materials to ensure supply to meet production needs.

PV: How do you evaluate the supply of materials for agricultural production in the province, especially for the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring crop?
Mr. Nguyen Ta: This year's winter crop, Thai Nguyen has completed the set plan by planting over 15 thousand hectares of various crops. For the 2025 spring crop, Thai Nguyen plans to plant over 28 thousand hectares of rice, striving for a yield of over 56 quintals/ha, of which the area planted with high-yield, high-quality rice varieties accounts for over 50%.
The 2024-2025 Winter-Spring crop in Thai Nguyen is considered an important crop, which greatly determines people's income as well as the province's grain crop output. Therefore, the province is very interested in providing materials to people.
Fortunately, the agricultural material supply market in the province is quite abundant. In addition to the province's major seed and fertilizer suppliers, Thai Nguyen Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Company; level 1 agents, there are also more than 700 fertilizer businesses, over 400 plant variety businesses of all kinds, evenly distributed in the areas of 9 districts and cities in the province.
Business has healthy competition so the prices of materials in the province are always stable, there is no hoarding or price increase even though the province has just experienced a historic storm - storm number 3 and the impact is quite severe, especially in agricultural production. People can completely focus on production when the supply and prices are stable as they are now.
PV: How has the management of quality and agricultural materials been carried out in the area recently, sir?
Mr. Nguyen Ta: In recent times, in carrying out assigned tasks, all levels and functional sectors in the province have always made efforts to effectively manage seeds and agricultural materials. In particular, organizing inspection teams to promptly detect and strictly handle violations in the production and trading of plant seeds and agricultural materials; preventing the circulation of fake and poor quality agricultural materials on the market.
However, the management of fertilizer materials business in the province still faces many difficulties due to the network of production and business establishments scattered in localities in the province, especially in remote areas.
To improve the effectiveness of state management of this work, in the coming time, we will continue to coordinate with the authorities to resolutely and strictly handle violations (if detected). At the same time, we will base on state regulations to handle violating organizations and individuals.
PV: What do you recommend to people in choosing materials and fertilizers for agricultural production?
Mr. Nguyen Ta: Every year, Thai Nguyen cultivates about 67.2 thousand hectares of rice, more than 14 thousand hectares of corn, 15.4 thousand hectares of vegetables; intensively cultivates over 22 thousand hectares of tea and nearly 14 thousand hectares of fruit trees, the demand for materials and fertilizers of farmers is very large.
With many sophisticated tricks, many subjects still bring poor quality materials and fertilizers to the market. Therefore, besides the efforts of the functional sectors... each person should be a smart consumer when choosing materials for agricultural production.
People should buy materials at reputable stores licensed by the State; product quality is allowed by law to circulate in Vietnam; suitable for local crops. When detecting fake or poor quality materials, outside the permitted list, people need to immediately report to the authorities at all levels for handling according to the provisions of law.
