Dam Vinh Hung is banned from performing.
Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - has just signed a decision on July 10, 2024, to punish singer Dam Vinh Hung for "performing art using costumes, words, sounds, images, movements, means of expression, performance forms and behaviors that are contrary to the nation's traditions and customs; negatively affecting morality, public health and social psychology".
In addition, Dam Vinh Hung was also subject to an additional penalty of 9-month suspension of performing activities as prescribed in Point b, Clause 9, Article 11 of Decree No. 38/2021/ND-CP dated March 29, 2021 of the Government .
Previously, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City determined that the "strange" badge on Dam Vinh Hung's shirt, which the male singer performed at the music night "Ngay em den sao troi" taking place on May 4, 2024, was inappropriate because it could easily be associated with sensitive issues related to politics , causing offense and creating bad public opinion.
Especially, at that time, the whole country was preparing to celebrate important political events, the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day; the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.
Melaleuca
In 2014, Huong Tram caused a stir when she wore an offensive performance outfit that exposed her entire back and sides. She was then fined 10 million VND by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and banned from performing in Hanoi for 3 months.
After more than a month of being summoned for wearing an offensive outfit while performing, Huong Tram finally appeared before the authorities. Here, the female singer explained and apologized for the outfit that caused public outrage and said that this was an unintended incident.
The location where Huong Tram performed was a bar on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hanoi, and she was also fined 2 million VND.
Angela Phuong Trinh
In 2013, the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) sent a document to local Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism across the country regarding the temporary suspension of licensing for Le Ngoc Phuong Trinh (stage name Angela Phuong Trinh) to participate in performing arts.
Previously, images of Angela Phuong Trinh wearing performance costumes that were not suitable for Vietnamese customs and cultural traditions were spread on social networks.
She continuously "committed uncivilized acts" while performing at bars and music nights in Hai Phong...
Immediately after receiving the feedback, the Department of Performing Arts organized a Council to evaluate the content of images, audio clips, and videos of Le Ngoc Phuong Trinh's performances in Hanoi and Hai Phong.
This Council assessed that these actions of Le Ngoc Phuong Trinh were contrary to Vietnamese customs and traditions, lacked culture in performance, and violated Decree No. 79/2012/ND-CP of the Government; Circular No. 03/2013/TT-BVHTTDL of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Decree No. 75/2010/NDCP of the Government and Directive No. 65/CT-BVHTTDL of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to rectify the organization of performing arts and fashion shows.
