16-year-old players cause surprise in National U19 qualifying round

In the first match of Group F, the 2024 National U19 Qualifiers, U19 Ba Ria Vung Tau faced U19 Ho Chi Minh City. The team named after Uncle Ho, considered the strongest in the group under the leadership of Coach Lu Dinh Tuan, unexpectedly suffered a defeat.

U19 Ba Ria Vung Tau has a team with 9 players aged 16. The remaining 2 are Pham Thanh Long, 19, and Tran Trung Dung, 18.

In Group B, all matches ended in draws. CAHN held Hong Linh Ha Tinh to a 0-0 draw, while PVF shared points with Thanh Hoa Club 1-1.

At Tu Do Stadium (Group C), Da Nang Club won 5-0 against Song Tra Quang Ngai, while Hue Club drew 1-1 with Quang Nam.

The 2024 National U19 Championship qualifiers will be held in 7 localities, with 7 corresponding groups. The top 7 teams and the 4 teams with the best results will qualify for the next round. In case the host team of the final round finishes in the top 11 teams, the remaining spot will be reserved for the 5th best second-placed team.

According to the plan, the first leg of the qualifying round will take place from January 7 to 17, the second leg will take place from January 19 to 29. The final round will be held from February 21 to March 5.
