The working delegation of the Ministry of Construction led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Xuan Sang recently had a working session with the People's Committee of Hung Yen province on the planning of the development of land and water areas of Thai Binh seaport, in which it proposed to consider supporting investment in the construction of Diem Dien seaport area to be able to receive ships with a capacity of up to 200,000 tons.

The People's Committee of Hung Yen province has just held a meeting with the Ministry of Construction to propose considering investment support for the construction of Diem Dien seaport area to be able to receive ships with a capacity of up to 200,000 tons.
At the meeting, after listening to the consulting unit present detailed planning options for the land and water areas of Thai Binh seaport, delegates focused on discussing and assessing the current status and detailed scale of each port area, plans to renovate and upgrade maritime routes for the period up to 2030 and vision to 2050.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Than emphasized: In the coming period, Hung Yen province's goal is to expand its economic space towards the sea, focusing on building Thai Binh Economic Zone into a multi-industry economic development cluster, creating growth momentum for Hung Yen province in particular and the whole country in general. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to have outstanding policy mechanisms, smart traffic infrastructure, synchronous connectivity and create highlights to develop key industries.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Yen province hopes that on the basis of the approved planning, the Ministry of Construction will continue to pay attention, support and create all conditions for Hung Yen to realize the above goals. The province will closely coordinate with relevant agencies to study and specify the contents of the planning; at the same time, increase the call for capable and experienced investors to implement related projects...

Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Xuan Sang affirmed that the Ministry of Construction supports the proposal to support investment in the construction of Diem Dien Seaport area to be able to receive ships with a capacity of up to 200,000 tons of Hung Yen province as well as planning for the development of land and water areas of Thai Binh seaport in the future.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Xuan Sang highly appreciated the vision and orientation of Hung Yen province in developing Thai Binh Economic Zone to become the economic center of the region; at the same time, assigned the specialized agencies under the Ministry to continue researching and proposing feasible plans to report to the Ministry's leaders for submission to the Prime Minister. The Ministry of Construction is ready to accompany and support the province in implementing the planning contents, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, creating a new development step for Hung Yen province.
According to the Conclusion Notice No. 243 of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the working session with the leaders of Thai Binh province (old) on May 12 on the results of leadership in implementing political tasks since the beginning of the Congress term, the direction and key tasks in the coming time. The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Construction to preside over and coordinate with local authorities and relevant ministries and agencies to study and propose investment support for the construction of Diem Dien Seaport to be able to receive ships with a capacity of up to 200,000 tons, propose optimal investment plans, ensuring feasibility and efficiency.
On May 22, the Ministry of Construction issued Decision No. 655/QD-BXD approving the detailed planning for the development of land and water areas of Thai Binh seaports in the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. According to the plan, Thai Binh seaport includes Diem Dien, Tra Ly, Ba Lat wharf areas, buoy wharves, transshipment areas and anchorage, storm shelters. The goal in the period up to 2030 is that Thai Binh seaport is planned to meet the throughput of goods reaching from 6.8 million tons to nearly 8 million tons, of which container cargo reaches about 0.02 million TEU.
The area has 10-11 ports, including 12-13 wharves. By 2050, Thai Binh seaport will meet the volume of goods passing through with an average growth rate of 5-5.3%/year. During this period, the Thai Binh seaport system will be developed in sync with logistics services and supporting industries, meeting the requirements of the process of forming Thai Binh Economic Zone, industrial parks and surrounding areas.
