In the early morning of July 18, the Vietnamese men's tennis team just finished their last match in the group stage against the Singapore men's team. Tennis player Pham La Hoang Anh was the first player to play singles against opponent Bill Chan. Despite trying to score, Pham La Hoang Anh could not win and accepted a 0-2 loss (2/6, 4/6).
Entering the second singles match, Vu Ha Minh Duc was very focused on finding a chance to overcome his opponent Shaheed Alam. In the first game, Vu Ha Minh Duc played effectively, causing his opponent to be somewhat confused, thereby winning 6/4. However, in the second game, our player lacked a bit of luck and regrettably lost 6/7. In the final decisive game, due to lack of physical strength, Vu Ha Minh Duc lost 2/6.
The remaining doubles match was just a formality, but the pair Dinh Viet Tuan Minh/Nguyen Minh Phat lost 0-2 to the Singaporean pair.
Thus, the Vietnamese men's tennis team lost 0-3 in the end. With this result, we ranked last, ahead of Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore in the same group. Therefore, the Vietnamese men's tennis team must compete in a play-off match with the 4th-placed team in the remaining group to maintain their place in Group 3. If we fail, we will fall to Group 4 in 2026.
