Teaching with all my heart

“Happy Teacher's Day and may you always be beautiful,” “I love you so much, Ms. Giang”... “These simple yet meaningful messages bring joy and encouragement to teachers like us who teach children with disabilities. This is a great motivation for us to continue striving in our noble profession of educating future generations,” said Ms. Le Thi Giang, a teacher at the Da Nang Center for Supporting Inclusive Education Development.

Ms. Giang graduated from the Department of Special Education , University of Education (Da Nang University). During her student years, she frequently visited the center to support the students' studies. "It was from those feelings that I wanted to accompany and be involved with the children after graduation, and I have never regretted this decision," Ms. Giang shared.

With unwavering perseverance, dedication to overcoming difficulties, and a deep love for children, Ms. Giang gradually learned from her colleagues, honed her professional skills, and researched and developed suitable teaching methods. During her 15 years at the center, Ms. Giang has had many innovative ideas, such as creating Braille stories for visually impaired students, developing a visual math learning model for hearing-impaired students, applying information technology in teaching, and making significant contributions to translating the 2018 General Education Program textbooks into Braille.

Ms. Giang said that at that time, the center did not have a laser printer, so to make the images stand out, the teachers had to cut and paste them manually. Although it was difficult and arduous, the teachers worked tirelessly day and night to create illustrative images so that students could touch and feel them.

To make her lessons engaging, Ms. Giang always employs unique methods tailored to each type of disability in her class. For the visually impaired boarding students, she is like a second mother, providing attentive care. She says that teaching inclusive education requires teachers to be truly dedicated and loving towards children in order to perform their duties well. Teachers must not only be proficient in their professional skills but also use their own love and affection to understand and encourage the children.

Ms. Giang recounted a memory: one year, the family of a student absolutely refused to let her learn Braille. Previously, she had bright, sparkling eyes, but they gradually turned white without her or her family noticing. They simply thought her eyesight was weaker than normal. I had to persuade the family for a whole year. During that time, I secretly taught her Braille. It wasn't until she said that when she first met me, she saw me as thin with long hair, and now she just saw me as a tiny dot, that the family finally believed me and agreed to help.

Besides teaching at the center, Ms. Giang also trains inclusive education teachers in primary schools in the city and some schools in Quang Nam province. She actively participates in the activities and movements of the center and the city's education union, achieving many positive results.

In particular, she always dedicates time to sharing her professional knowledge with parents, supporting them in caring for and educating their children at home. Through 10 years of studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh , Ms. Giang believes that following Uncle Ho should begin with concrete, simple actions, and be done persistently every day. She herself learned from unconditional love, followed his teachings with a high sense of responsibility, and persevered with the motto "teach with all my heart," ensuring no child is left behind.

Through her efforts and dedication, Ms. Le Thi Giang has consistently achieved the title of outstanding grassroots emulation fighter for many years. In 2019, she was honored with the "Outstanding Teacher of Da Nang" award; in 2020, she was one of the exemplary individuals to receive a commendation from the Ministry of Education and Training at the 7th National Emulation Congress of the Education Sector. Recently, she was awarded a certificate of merit by the Lien Chieu District Party Committee for her outstanding achievements in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh during the period 2016-2025.
