In Chiem Hoa district, the implementation of the movement has created many positive changes in people's awareness of self-classifying waste, reducing and limiting the release of plastic waste into the environment. Currently, in the communes and towns, self-managed environmental protection teams and groups have been effectively established and maintained. Every month, self-managed teams agree on a fixed day to mobilize households in residential areas to participate in cleaning village roads, alleys, and taking care of flower roads.
In particular, the model of waste classification at source has been effectively implemented with over 80% of households in the area having inorganic waste bins and organic waste treatment pits. For organic waste, households take advantage of microbial fermentation to make fertilizer, for inorganic waste, plastic bottles will be collected and reused to make eco-bricks.
Up to now, the movement "Tuyen Quang joins hands to handle waste and fight plastic waste" has spread widely and received the consensus of the people. From this movement, many creative models have emerged to protect the green and environmentally friendly living environment. Typical examples include the self-managed model of "Family trash bins" in Son Duong town; the "eco-brick" model, using plastic bottles and stuffing them with materials such as soft or hard plastic bags, foam boxes, disposable plastic cups, packaging, plastic wrappers, straws, candy wrappers, plastic cups, cleaning, drying, cutting into small pieces and stuffing them tightly into plastic bottles to create colorful eco-bricks in Phu Binh commune, Chiem Hoa district; the "Small planning house" model of Phan Thiet Primary School Union, Tuyen Quang city to raise funds to help students in difficult circumstances by collecting plastic waste...
Mr. Nguyen Hung Vuong - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Tuyen Quang province said that after more than 3 years of implementing the movement "Tuyen Quang joins hands to handle waste and fight against plastic waste", it has brought about practical results. The work of classifying, collecting, treating waste, and maintaining environmental hygiene has been unanimously implemented, contributing to changing people's behavior and habits in using disposable plastic products, minimizing environmental pollution caused by plastic waste.
To date, the province has had over 2,400 models of self-managed environmental protection groups. Through the propaganda work of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, many households in residential areas have agreed, actively responded, and voluntarily contributed funds to build 2,330 new waste treatment pits and tanks. From recycled plastic waste, localities have made over 6,000 eco-bricks; processed over 16.5 tons of waste, pesticide packaging, etc.
In the coming time, Mr. Nguyen Hung Vuong said that the Fatherland Front and its member organizations need to choose appropriate methods to effectively implement the movement. Specifically, the Women's Union continues to effectively implement the ecological brick model and build flower roads; the Farmers' Association does well in the model of collecting pesticide packaging and guiding the composting of organic waste into fertilizer; the Youth Union does well in the model of exchanging plastic waste for trees, exchanging plastic waste for school supplies... so that the movement increasingly attracts the response and participation of many classes of people.
