- Tan Hung Commune - Economic development competition
- Diversifying urban economic resources
In the commune, many effective production models have been formed and replicated, contributing to increasing income and improving people's lives. Notable among them are the models of raising frogs in ponds and raising snakehead fish, which bring high economic value, demonstrating the dynamic and creative spirit of local farmers, along with practical support from professional sectors and local authorities.
Frog farming - low capital, high profit
Five years ago, Mr. Tran Hoai Thu (Phu Thanh hamlet) started experimenting with a frog farming model with 8 cages, about 500 frogs. “At first, the most difficult thing was the output, but I kept 100 frogs for breeding, then gradually increased the number. Up to now, I have about 10,000 frogs, of which 700 are for breeding,” Mr. Thu shared.

According to him, the initial investment cost is only about 40 million VND, including building cages and equipping tools. Each month, the cost of food is about 2 million VND, simple care, after only 30 days of raising, it can be sold. Currently, the output is stable, Mr. Thu said that each month he earns 15-20 million VND, income is about 200 million VND/year. This model is suitable for small-scale farmers, low cost but high efficiency.

Goby - sustainable direction
Unlike frog farming, goby farming requires a long time and perseverance. Mr. Bui Binh Trong (Duc An hamlet) has been involved in the profession for more than 10 years and currently has two ponds covering about 3 hectares of land.
He said that he used to buy fish fry in An Giang , but due to the difference in water source, the loss was high. After switching to buying fish fry locally, the fish adapted better and had a high survival rate. Each batch of fish lasts about a year, and the current selling price is 320,000 VND/kg for large fish and 250,000-270,000 VND/kg for small fish.
Mr. Trong also received capital support and technical guidance from the local government, helping the model to become increasingly stable and generate a good income. According to Mr. Tran Quoc Huy, Head of Duc An Hamlet, this is the most effective production model of the hamlet and needs to be promoted and replicated in the coming time.

Support people for sustainable development
Mr. Luu Anh Phap, an agricultural extension officer of Luong The Tran commune, said that each year the commune organizes about 10 training classes on aquaculture techniques for people, focusing on disease prevention, water environment treatment and animal care techniques.
Deputy Head of the Commune Economic Department Ha Thuc Vinh Duy affirmed: "In the coming time, the commune will continue to promote science and technology transfer to improve production efficiency and ensure sustainable development."
After the success of the Provincial Party Congress, farmers in Luong The Tran commune are even more determined to promote the advantages of aquaculture, diversify production models, increase income and improve their lives.
The initial results from the frog and goby farming models not only affirm the people's will to rise up, but also demonstrate the spirit of innovation in agricultural and rural development, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Congress, building the homeland to be increasingly rich, civilized and sustainable.
