Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang (standing) suggested simplifying administrative procedures in implementing digital transformation in the agricultural sector.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the agricultural sector is currently managing, exploiting and using a large volume of information systems and specialized databases in various fields to serve the general management and direction from the central to local levels. Typically in crop production, has applied automatic irrigation systems, drip irrigation, automatic temperature adjustment in greenhouses, membrane houses, etc. to contribute to saving labor costs, water resources, and increasing crop productivity.

In the livestock sector, we have applied a sensor system to control the microclimate of the barn, automatic feeding and water supply; managed and monitored livestock and the origin of animals using software; and sold products online through electronic transactions. In the fisheries sector, we have applied a voyage monitoring system in fisheries exploitation to manage fishing vessels and support fishermen during fishing at sea; at the same time, automation technology has been widely applied in the seafood processing stage from classification, steaming, packaging, production lines, etc., thereby helping to reduce production costs and ensure the quality of seafood products.

Hau Giang agriculture sector has been effectively applying digital technology in forecasting the situation of pests on rice plants for people.

Statistics from localities show that currently, the whole country has more than 2 million agricultural production households trained in digital skills, nearly 50,000 agricultural products have been put on e-commerce platforms and thousands of electronic transactions have been carried out; this shows the initial effectiveness of the digital transformation of agriculture.

In terms of difficulties, the current human resources for digital transformation are still limited , especially the level of people. In particular, there is a lack of synchronization in the implementation of: basic infrastructure; basic software, shared; interconnected, shared, integrated databases; administration and operation, updating, maintaining, upgrading databases, software, training, fostering knowledge, digital transformation skills...

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang requested the agricultural sector from the central to local levels to continue to effectively implement the digital transformation plan for the agricultural sector in accordance with the actual conditions of each locality, in conjunction with socio-economic development goals, ensuring food security. In addition, attention should be paid to investing in building information technology infrastructure (telecommunications, Internet, computers) to serve digitalization in rural areas; prioritizing infrastructure development for concentrated planting and breeding areas, and high-tech agriculture.

In addition, strengthen propaganda and dissemination of digital transformation to people, farming communities, and agricultural enterprises to raise awareness and support agricultural producers to access and adapt to digital technologies. On the other hand, focus on training and developing human resources in information technology and data digitization to serve digital transformation of agriculture in the locality. For associations and industries, organize research, propose policies and solutions, and build typical models of digital technology application suitable for each specific agricultural sector and field for widespread implementation.
