Forecasting the development trend of 5G in Vietnam and in the region, Mr. Pham Van Minh, Director of Mobile Solutions at Nokia, commented that 5G deployment is expected to grow strongly in the coming years, and 5G traffic is forecast to surpass 4G in 2025, becoming a technology that drives the economy and opens up many new opportunities for businesses.
According to data from Omdia, 5G is the fastest growing mobile technology today and will account for more than half of all global data traffic by 2025. Businesses need to take advantage of new business model opportunities through network optimization and service delivery such as network virtualization (slicing) and AI.
Meanwhile, Mr. Hoang Hung Hai, Product Director of Qualcomm, said that the number of global mobile connections is increasing rapidly, with 2.1 billion 5G phones sold and more than 300 carriers launching 5G. 5G technology is forecast to contribute nearly 900 billion USD to the global economy by 2030.

Presenting impressive figures on the development of 5G, Mr. Pham Le Chung from Ericsson said that with nearly 350 5G networks, including more than 60 independent 5G networks, 5G has covered 55% of the world's population and is accounting for 34% of global mobile traffic, opening up many new opportunities for businesses and users.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Director of Viettel Telecom Mobile Service Center, said that as the first network operator to launch the largest 5G network in Vietnam, Viettel's 5G network had 3 million users after only 2 weeks of launch, currently reaching approximately 4 million and is expected to increase to 10 million after 1 year.
Viettel's survey shows that 80% of 5G customers are concentrated in urban areas, industrial parks and tourist areas, while customers in rural areas mainly use 4G. This is also the reason why Viettel decided to prioritize 5G coverage in provincial capitals and areas that will use 5G the most. Preliminary statistics show that 21% of Viettel subscribers already own 5G phones, 70% of subscribers in the coverage area have used 5G and traffic accounts for 30% in deployment areas, showing that the attraction of this technology is very large.

Statistics from iSpeed - the measurement system of the Ministry of Information and Communications also showed a similar trend in October - the time when Viettel launched its 5G network.
“5G Day is expected to be a bridge for all parties to share, discuss and seek strategic cooperation opportunities to make 5G technology truly become a driving force to change lives. We are committed to accompanying businesses to develop a comprehensive and sustainable digital ecosystem, applying AI, Internet of Things and Cloud technology to all aspects of life,” emphasized Mr. Nguyen Trong Tinh, Deputy General Director of Viettel Telecom.
