After raising for about 3 months, after deducting costs, farmers earn an average profit of 2 - 3 million VND/goat.

Goats are livestock that are less susceptible to diseases, easy to consume, especially using grasslands and agricultural waste as food, low investment capital, suitable for drought and salinity conditions, so they are raised a lot in the coastal districts of the East of Tien Giang province.

Besides, due to the high demand for goat meat in the market, farmers are bold in re-raising their herds, contributing to increasing household income in a sustainable way.

According to statistics, the total goat herd in the province is currently about 160,000, 3 times higher than in 2023. In the localities in the Go Cong Sweetening Area project of Tien Giang province, Go Cong Dong district has the largest number of goats, more than 50,000.

Mr. Doan Van Hong, Tang Hoa commune, Go Cong Dong district, has boldly converted from unstable rice cultivation to establishing a goat farm to supply meat goats and breeding goats to the market.

Currently, his goat farm is the largest in Go Cong Dong district with a total herd of over 100 breeding goats and meat goats, earning over 200 million VND each year.

In order to support the effective development of goat herds in difficult areas of coastal districts of Go Cong, recently, the Provincial Agricultural Extension and Agricultural Services Center (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tien Giang province) has implemented many valuable scientific research projects with high potential for effective application locally in the field of goat farming.

Models and projects: Project "Application of local goat breed improvement model" in Go Cong Dong district; Project "Artificial insemination on goats"; Model "Testing local goat breed improvement model"... have been effectively applied in districts and towns with prosperous goat farming.
