According to Article 11 of the Draft Law, the family deduction level will be flexibly regulated by the Government according to the socio -economic situation of each period, including deductions for taxpayers and dependents such as young children, disabled people or spouses with no income.
It is expected that the deduction will increase by about 40% compared to the current level, from 11 million to 15.5 million VND for taxpayers and from 4.4 million to 6.2 million VND for dependents, based on GDP growth and per capita income.
In the review report, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee Phan Van Mai said that the adjustment is necessary but needs to be carefully evaluated to ensure stability and transparency, and not to have to be adjusted too often. Therefore, the law should specifically stipulate the levels for taxpayers and dependents as currently in place to ensure authority and transparency.
The law is expected to take effect from July 1, 2026.
