Free car repair, spreading humanitarian action after the flood

The historic floods have left many areas of Thai Nguyen province deeply submerged. Houses and vehicles were heavily inundated, making life difficult for many people. In such circumstances, free repair shops coordinated by organizations and volunteer units have become a warm support, helping people quickly stabilize their lives after the natural disaster.

Since early morning, the grounds of the Vietnam National Music, Dance and Dance Theatre have been packed with people bringing their flooded motorbikes for repair. This is a free repair point organized by the Thanh Hoa Motorcycle Technical Association in collaboration with the local government.

Hundreds of flooded and muddy vehicles were towed to the site. People lined up patiently, hoping their vehicles would be repaired soon so they could get back on the road.

Mr. Pham Van Hoa, Group 11, Phan Dinh Phung Ward, shared: I brought my car here early in the morning, after about an hour of help from the mechanics, my car started up normally again. Thank you very much to the Association for helping people overcome the consequences of the flood.

Regardless of the hardship, more than 100 technicians of the Association have been working continuously, some checking spare parts, some replacing components, some cleaning and assembling. Everything happened smoothly and urgently. Up to now, Thanh Hoa Motorcycle Technical Association has repaired more than 2,000 motorbikes damaged by floods.

“As soon as we heard that Thai Nguyen was severely flooded, we mobilized our brothers to go and coordinate with the local authorities to open a free motorbike repair shop. Helping people is our joy,” said Nguyen Trong Giap, Head of the Thanh Hoa Motorcycle Technical Association.

Not only stopping at the central area, the Association also opened more repair points at Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Thai Nguyen University of Education, helping people in many areas to bring their vehicles for repair more conveniently.

Also in the spirit of “turning towards the flood areas”, immediately after grasping the damage situation, the University of Electricity (Hanoi) launched a movement to support overcoming the consequences of the flood. In just a short time, on October 12, nearly 300 staff, lecturers and students of the University were present in Thai Nguyen.

At the Center for Agricultural Extension and Environment (Phan Dinh Phung Ward) and Gia Sang Ward, groups of students divided up the work, some repaired cars, some checked the electrical system, and some cleaned their houses with the locals. Their muddy hands still worked diligently from morning to night, with the common desire to help people stabilize their lives soon.

Ms. Pham Thi Huyen, Phan Dinh Phung ward, emotionally said: My house was flooded with 3 cars, I was very worried because I had no means of transportation. Luckily there was a free car repair program, now I have a car to do business, I am very happy.

Teacher Nguyen Hong Linh, University of Electricity, said: The students are very enthusiastic, working tirelessly. Each time a car is restarted, it is a joy and motivation for us to continue supporting the people.

In just a few days, thousands of flooded motorbikes were restored, helping thousands of households regain their means of transportation and normal daily activities.

Not only car repair shops, many other organizations and volunteer groups also accompanied Thai Nguyen people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters. In residential areas severely affected, volunteers supported repairing civil electrical systems, replacing wires, sockets, and checking electrical safety for households. Thanks to that, many households soon had electricity restored, restoring daily activities.

These seemingly small but meaningful actions ignited faith and human warmth in the hearts of the people in the flood-affected areas. Amidst difficulties and losses, the spirit of mutual love and support spread strongly, becoming a valuable source of encouragement for the people of Thai Nguyen to firmly overcome natural disasters.
