On October 15, information from the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center (HCMC) said that the center is treating a female tourist who drowned at sea.

The victim was Ms. Duong Thi H. (nearly 60 years old, living in Truc Ninh commune, Ninh Binh province). Previously, at noon on October 14, Ms. H. went to Con Dao for sightseeing. In the afternoon of the same day, while swimming in the sea, she was suddenly swept away from the shore by waves, showing signs of exhaustion and then sank into the water.
Hearing people's cries for help, retired military medical major Vu Quang Van (former general practitioner of the Regional Defense Command Infirmary 6) was bathing nearby and immediately rushed out to help.

When brought to shore, the victim had stopped breathing and had stopped breathing. Major Van coordinated with Dr. Nguyen Ha Thao Vy (Con Dao Special Zone Medical Center) to perform artificial respiration and chest compressions on the victim.
After about 15 minutes, the female tourist regained consciousness and was transferred to the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center for further monitoring. Currently, Ms. Duong Thi H.'s health is stable, she is conscious but still has difficulty breathing. Doctors are treating Ms. H.'s pulmonary edema due to drowning with a CPAP ventilator.
