Today October 15: Heavy rain in the North, beware of localized flooding

According to the meteorological agency, today, October 15, there will be heavy rain in the North, while the Central region will have intermittent rain and sunshine, and the South will have less rain (only concentrated in the afternoon and evening).

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting informed that last night and early this morning, October 15, many areas in the Northeast and North Central regions had showers, thunderstorms with gusts of wind and thunder.

Rainfall measured at some stations such as Binh Lieu ( Quang Ninh province) 123.2mm, Thong Nhat (Thanh Hoa province) 92.8mm, Xuan Minh (Thanh Hoa province) 79mm. The cause of the rain is due to the East wind combined with the strong low pressure trough and the impact of terrain in the northern mountainous region causing humid air to accumulate.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that in the Northeast region and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh, today there will continue to be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall ranging from 15-30mm, with some places experiencing over 80mm. In Hanoi , there will be scattered showers with rainfall ranging from 10-20mm, with some places experiencing heavy rain of over 60mm; from tonight, the rain will gradually decrease.

In the northern mountainous region, rain may last longer, causing slippery and dangerous mountain passes.

In the Central region, the area from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh has moderate to heavy rain in some areas. In Quang Tri province, the weather has been getting worse in waves but there has not been widespread rain.

In the South, according to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the weather on October 15 will be generally cloudy, with showers concentrated in the afternoon and evening. The highest temperature will be 30-33 degrees Celsius, with light winds. Rain will decrease compared to previous days but there is still the potential for tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. In Ho Chi Minh City, scattered rain may appear in the late afternoon, and the night will be cool.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that today, coastal areas in the Northeast such as Quang Ninh and Hai Phong need to be on guard against the risk of flooding due to heavy rain.
