After a year of running around amidst the hustle and bustle of life, Ho Chi Minh City residents look forward to the day of leisurely strolling along the unique and spring-filled Nguyen Hue flower street.
The impressive return of the "tough" mascot
According to information from Saigon Tourist Group - the organizer, from 7am on January 9, Nguyen Hue Street will officially set up barriers to start decorating the flower street. It is expected that after 18 days, Nguyen Hue Flower Street will be officially completed and open to serve the city's residents and tourists to celebrate the New Year. As soon as the first perspective images of Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2025 were revealed, people were very excited to wait for the design of this year's snake mascot. This is the second time the snake mascot has been recreated on the flower street during Tet.

Do you remember 2013, the year of Quy Ty, marked the 10-year journey of Nguyen Hue flower street. That year, the flower street took the theme "Heart of Vietnam", originating from the idea of the people's heart and the country's strength. The image of 2 snakes stylized with smiling eyes, representing the gentle and kind personality of the Southern people, left many impressions in the hearts of the people and tourists. This is also a very special feature of Nguyen Hue flower street, no matter what mascot, clearly showing the majesty, bravery or typical personality, it is always mixed with softness, sincerity, carrying the soul of a city of love.
The same goes for the Lunar New Year this year. The Kim Ty and Ngan Ty couple at the entrance gate of Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2025 is an impressive return in appearance, size and craftsmanship compared to the Quy Ty couple 2013. The Ngan Ty couple (female) is 25 m long and the Kim Ty couple (male) is 42 m long, their whole bodies winding 3 times intertwined, forming a base more than 11 m wide, with a height from the body adjacent to the flower base to the top of the head of over 6 m. Kim Ty and Ngan Ty have 70% environmentally friendly craftsmanship materials. The snake's head and belly are covered with painted pressed bamboo panels, the entire upper back is covered with reflective mirror mica scales, creating the shimmer of "metal" and "silver". The total number of scales on the body of Ngan Ty is about 2,700 pieces and Kim Ty is nearly 3,600 pieces, completely hand-attached with LED lights running along both sides of the belly. The snake eyes are also a highlight compared to Quy Ty 2013, with a diameter of 10 cm, painted according to the design, the eyes of At Ty 2025 bring soul to the mascot.

In addition, the bamboo bushes behind the Ngan Ty - Kim Ty couple are also environmentally friendly works, with bamboo trunks 2.5 - 12 m high, made from bamboo and rattan covered with round steel boxes, painted alternately in two colors: light green and ivory yellow, creating a gentle, delicate color transition. The hollow shape with countless holes along the trunk is a gentle light source for the Kim - Ngan couple when the flower path is lit up.
In addition to the welcome gate area, on the flower street there is another large creature, Lady Ty, modeled after the shape of a king cobra with its head raised high, its whole body covered in green, the color of life and growth. Unlike Kim Ty and Ngan Ty, which shine brightly even under the sunlight or at night, Lady Ty has the hidden charm of a Southern girl in her typical costume, with "accessories" such as a checkered scarf and a conical hat. Lady Ty has an impressive size with a length of more than 50 m and a height of more than 10 m.
According to the organizers, Lady Ty is made mostly from materials with light and medium weight. With a height of more than 1 meter, Lady Ty's structure is divided into two main parts: the head and the body. In addition to the steel used for the load-bearing structure, the head has a material ratio of 25% foam, 55% fine steel mesh, and the foam ratio in the body is 40%. Two-thirds of Lady Ty's length lies on the ground, using the body's spiral as a support base, one-third of the body is more than 5 meters long in an upright position, the snake's gills are more than 3 meters long, made of a steel frame covered with fine mesh that has a light structure and does not block the wind.
"Among the 12 zodiac animals, the snake is a cold-blooded reptile and a "multi-personality" species that exists intertwined. When mentioning snakes, we often feel a bit insecure, but on the other hand, snakes have flexible characteristics, are good at improvisation, or like the medical profession uses the symbol of a snake wrapped around a stick and behind this symbol is a special legend. Overcoming these challenges, the design unit has carefully created the mascot image of the year of At Ty into a gentle, graceful work of art that is highly anticipated before the Lunar New Year," added a representative of Saigontourist Group.
Heroic song, steadily advancing to the new era
Nguyen Hue Flower Street has turned 22 years old, not only a symbol of spring but also a welcome, inviting international friends to come and experience a dynamic city, to hear stories about a heroic and loyal land.

With the theme "Brocaded and flowery mountains and rivers, happy spring in peace", this year's flower street is divided into 3 segments: "Unity", "Transformation" and "Development", representing the historical stages of the Vietnamese people. Overcoming all hardships, sacrifices and losses, every Vietnamese person, every child of the city named after Uncle Ho still sings the song of solidarity to gain independence - unify the country - transform and develop sustainably. After 50 years, today the city and the whole country are confidently stepping into a new era, the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.
In particular, the miniature landscape celebrating the country's major holidays in 2025 on Nguyen Hue flower street "Celebrating the 50th New Year - Celebrating the Reunification Spring" is brilliant with the colors of flowers, the green of the homeland, gently dotted with the image of a metro train marking the first year of operation of metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien). This milestone also marks another step forward for Ho Chi Minh City in the process of entering a new era.
A family of three generations of Saigonese origin, every year Ms. Nguyen Hai Anh and her family travel from Cu Chi to Saigon to visit the flower street. Her grandmother used to be a wholesaler for people who buy and sell Tet flowers and ornamental plants since the time when this street was called "Nguyen Hue Tet Market". Going to Nguyen Hue flower market, having parents buy her an ice cream or a cotton candy made of sugar, and then frolicking in the joyful, spring-filled atmosphere have become unforgettable childhood memories in the memories of many people, including Ms. Hai Anh.
"When I was young, I loved the flower street because it was beautiful, crowded, and joyful, filled with colorful flowers everywhere. When I grew up, I understood that each year the flower street design conveys a different message and meaning. Thanks to ideas like that, each of us, the children of the city, come to the flower street not only to enjoy the spring, but also to love and be proud of our homeland. I hope that my wishes for the coming year will come true, so that the city will develop more and more brilliantly like Nguyen Hue flower street", Ms. Hai Anh shared.
