Ham Thuan Nam - is the "capital" of dragon fruit in Binh Thuan province, a district with great potential for tourism, with the advantage of being not far from Phan Thiet city. The district center - Thuan Nam town is 28 km southwest of Phan Thiet city, with expressway, national highway 1A and North - South railway running through, with a long and beautiful coastline... has created favorable conditions for Ham Thuan Nam district to develop tourism in the near future. Although the district's tourism sector was born after some localities in the province such as Phan Thiet, La Gi, Tuy Phong, many tourist facilities have been invested and built to meet the needs of relaxation and entertainment of tourists such as: Saigon - Suoi Nhum, Anh Duong, Doi Su, Olaha, Viet - Phap... When mentioning Ham Thuan Nam's tourist attractions, we cannot fail to mention two scenic spots: Ke Ga lighthouse and Ta Cu mountain pagoda, these are scenic spots with the beauty of nature and the history of the district. Ke Ga lighthouse is 65 m high (above sea level) and was built in the 19th century. It is currently the tallest and oldest lighthouse in Vietnam in particular and Southeast Asia in general. Every year, Ke Ga lighthouse welcomes 10,000 to 12,000 visitors from inside and outside the province to visit and admire. After 2 wars against invaders, Ke Ga lighthouse still stands tall over time, shining at night to guide ships like the steadfast hearts of the people of Ham Thuan Nam homeland. Ta Cu mountain pagoda started as a hermitage established by monk Huu Duc in 1869. In particular, the most unique feature of this ancient pagoda is the statue of Sakyamuni entering nirvana, lying on its side, head resting on its hand, 49 meters long, 11 meters high, with its back leaning against the cliff, facing the East Sea, built in the 1960s, 20th century, by architect Truong Dinh Y; The statue has been recognized by the Asian Record Organization as the longest Buddha statue entering Nirvana on a mountain in Asia. In addition to its natural beauty and beliefs, for many people from Ham Thuan Nam, Ta Cu Mountain is also associated with the tradition of revolutionary struggle. According to the leader of the district's Department of Culture and Information, the number of tourists coming to travel, visit, and relax increases by an average of 19.5% annually. Up to now, Ham Thuan Nam has dozens of tourism projects registered for investment in the district, welcoming over 300,000 tourists every year, with some years welcoming over half a million tourists. In the district, there are currently over 20 resorts with 3-5 stars, meeting the needs of tourists from budget to high-end. The types of tourism are developing in an increasingly diverse direction, combining resort, ecological, and spiritual tourism. Currently, the main types are coastal resort tourism and mountainous tourism, festival culture combined with spirituality; Some tourism projects are being implemented to invest in eco-tourism, coastal resorts; entertainment and sea sports tourism; community tourism such as experiencing dragon fruit production with the people of Ham Thuan Nam. In particular, Ta Cu tourist area has been invested in and expanded by businesses, associated with the organization of the Ta Cu Ham Thuan Nam - Binh Thuan expanded mountain climbing competition, the annual cycling race around Ta Cu mountain has attracted a large number of tourists... With the advantage of owning famous landscapes, Ham Thuan Nam tourism will flourish even more in the future!
