(Dan Tri) - Many students at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law reported having to pay nearly 24 million VND in national defense tuition, dozens of times higher than other schools.

According to the feedback of some students of the 49th course of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, the school announced that the tuition fee for national defense and security education is 11.2 million VND and 23.87 million VND depending on the training program and faculty.

A student of the school shared that the school announced to study national defense education with 11 credits at a price of more than 1 million VND/credit in the mass system and more than 2 million VND/credit in the high quality system.

In addition, according to students, the school's requirement to complete payment early puts pressure on many students.

The tuition fee for the above-mentioned national defense education subject of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law is 10 to 20 times higher than that of some universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Not yet finished, many students also reacted when studying national defense still differentiated between mass and high quality systems.

Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, representative of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law shared that the subject of national defense and security education has 4 modules, equivalent to 11 credits.

At school, the fee for a credit is the total tuition fee for the entire course (each major is different) divided by the total number of credits.

Or we can understand the total tuition fee for the entire course = tuition fee for 1 student/1 month x 10 months x number of school years, ensuring the principle that the total tuition fee according to the credits of the training program is at most equal to the total tuition fee calculated by school year.

The school builds tuition fees for 1 school year and divides them by the average number of credits/school year, so the subjects will be charged at the same unit price for each credit.

This cost, according to the school representative, does not only serve the organization of a specific subject but is the total training cost for each school year and the entire course.

This representative said that the 49th course was the first course that the school organized students to register for credits to study during the semester. When registering, students misunderstood, thinking that the money was only for national defense education and activities related to national defense education, which was incorrect.

To facilitate students to register and pay tuition fees to ensure training progress, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law has adjusted the tuition payment time from March 28 to April 18.

In case students are in difficult circumstances and cannot pay tuition fees, according to the school, they need to apply for an extension of the tuition payment period.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Law is a self-sufficient unit in regular and investment expenditures and is given financial autonomy.
