Activities related to historical sites and political events at the Can Tho City Police Traditional House, located at the Central Committee of the Southern Region, Tay Ninh.
The Central Committee of the Southern Region historical site is located in Tay Ninh province, near the Vietnam-Cambodia border. It is also known by several other names, such as R (the code name for the Central Committee of the Southern Region), Chang Riệc Base, Pham Hung Base, or North Tay Ninh Base. During the two wars of resistance against France and the United States, the Southeastern region of Vietnam in general, and Tay Ninh in particular, was a strategically important area. The North Tay Ninh base served as the headquarters of the Southern revolutionary movement for a long period, directly leading and guiding the revolution until the complete liberation of the South.
The Central Committee of the Southern Region was re-established on January 23, 1961, by decision of the 3rd Conference of the Central Executive Committee of the Party (3rd term), to replace the Southern Regional Party Committee and assume the highest leadership role of the Party in the Southern battlefield. This is the place associated with the remarkable achievements of high-ranking leaders such as Pham Hung, Le Duan, Nguyen Chi Thanh, Nguyen Van Linh, and Vo Van Kiet. During its 15 years of operation (1961-1975), the Central Committee of the Southern Region held 15 congresses and issued hundreds of directives and resolutions, becoming the central command center for the revolutionary people's war in the South, concretizing many policies and decisions of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh into the practical revolutionary work of the South.
Given its exceptional historical, cultural, scientific, and military value, on May 10, 2012, the Prime Minister decided to classify the Central Committee Headquarters of the Southern Region as a Special National Monument.
Within the Central Committee of the Southern Region historical site complex, various units have built traditional houses to serve the political and ideological education of officers and soldiers. In 2024, after completing the restoration and repair of various items, the Can Tho City Police Traditional House was inaugurated. Located within the grounds of the Central Committee of the Southern Region, the building ensures solemnity and meets the needs of officers and soldiers for visiting and participating in traditional activities. It also serves as a repository of valuable images and artifacts about the formation, battles, and important events of the Central Committee of the Southern Region. This is a vivid testament to the concern and efforts of the Can Tho City Police in preserving and promoting historical values.
For the officers and soldiers of the Can Tho City Police, political activities are organized regularly and solemnly. Each trip to the "red address" - the Central Committee Base of the Southern Region Historical Site and the Can Tho City Police Traditional House - is a sacred meeting place of memory and ideals. It is also an opportunity for officers and soldiers to review the glorious traditions, remember and honor the great contributions and sacrifices of the heroes and martyrs. Through this, it greatly contributes to the education of revolutionary traditions and ideals, motivating officers and soldiers to consciously study, train, and improve their political acumen, sense of responsibility, and wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people, worthy of the trust of the Party, the State, and the people.
