According to a report from the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC), from the beginning of 2023 to May 15, the whole city had 250 cases of dengue fever (10 times higher than the same period in 2022).

The number of cases recorded in 27/30 districts, towns and cities; 143/579 communes, wards and towns. In addition, 14 outbreaks were recorded in 9 districts: Dong Da, Bac Tu Liem, Hoang Mai, Nam Tu Liem, Thach That, Ha Dong, Thanh Oai, Hoai Duc, Tay Ho.
According to the Hanoi CDC, due to the current favorable weather conditions for disease-carrying mosquitoes to breed and develop, the dengue fever epidemic may increase rapidly in the coming time. Currently, the number of cases is increasing by the week, with the possibility of recording more severe patients and deaths compared to 2022.
Therefore, in addition to the drastic participation of all levels, sectors, local authorities and the health sector, people also need to raise awareness, consciousness, and strictly implement regulations on disease prevention and control.
To proactively prevent and control epidemics in the coming time, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Health Vu Cao Cuong requested medical units to continue advising local authorities on disease prevention and control at the grassroots level; review and propose solutions to difficulties in spending norms for the preventive health system; ensure adequate supplies of chemicals and sprayers for disease prevention and control. Along with that, Hanoi CDC will strengthen inspection, supervision and support units in implementing disease prevention and control.
“CDC Hanoi needs to review and announce the high-risk index of dengue fever for each district, town, area, etc. to give warnings to the people. At the same time, review the sample testing work, agree with the units on sending the test samples effectively, responding promptly to the work of disease prevention and control,” Mr. Vu Cao Cuong noted.
