African swine fever is complicated in Phu Tho

Authorities at all levels and functional forces in the province are making efforts to control and prevent the epidemic.

The risk of disease outbreaks and spread is very high, especially for small-scale livestock farmers who do not apply biosecurity measures.

Faced with the widespread circulation of African swine fever virus in localities, to proactively prevent, combat and control African swine fever and ensure safety, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Tho province requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province to focus on directing, guiding and urging communes and wards to synchronously deploy measures to prevent and combat African swine fever according to regulations; closely monitor the situation and developments of the epidemic, especially in high-risk areas, ensure early detection, timely warning and decisive handling upon detection, absolutely do not let people sell out, hide information about the epidemic, throw dead pigs into the environment to spread the disease.

Localities review and accurately grasp the total pig herd and the status of African swine fever vaccination in the province; guide and urge farmers to strictly implement mandatory disease prevention measures according to regulations, vaccinate pigs against African swine fever according to the instructions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , and clean and disinfect the breeding area with lime powder and chemicals.

Promote the application of biosafety in livestock farming; closely coordinate with relevant agencies (Police, Market Management, etc.) to strengthen management of livestock farming activities, control slaughter, quarantine, control transportation, and trade of pigs and pork products.

Based on the actual epidemic situation, establish working groups to inspect, direct and guide epidemic prevention and control work in communes and wards; promptly report to the Provincial People's Committee on the epidemic situation and implementation work of localities to have timely guidance measures.

Provincial Police units and the Department of Industry and Trade direct forces to strengthen inspection and control of transportation and slaughter of animals and animal products, especially at traffic gateways with epidemic provinces, markets, slaughterhouses, etc.; promptly detect and strictly handle violations of regulations on disease prevention and control, especially cases of transportation, trading, and slaughter of pigs and pig products of unknown origin, not yet quarantined, sick and dead pigs.

The People's Committees of communes and wards shall strengthen inspection and supervision of each pig farming household, ensure early detection and synchronous implementation of measures to completely handle outbreaks of African swine fever according to regulations, not allowing the disease to spread widely; review and make a list of each farming household and the total pig herd to closely monitor farming activities; mobilize and guide farmers to proactively report when detecting cases of sick pigs or pigs dying of unknown causes to determine the cause and handle it according to regulations, limiting the spread of the disease;

Direct functional forces to strictly inspect and control pig and pig product breeding, slaughtering, trading and transportation activities in the area; promptly detect and strictly handle violations of the law.
