Ho Chi Minh City's service and tourism sector maintains strong growth momentum in the first 7 months of 2025
Highlights
In the first 7 months of 2025, Ho Chi Minh City's service and tourism sector maintained strong growth momentum. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increased by 15.5% over the same period; tourism revenue increased by 29.9%, completing 54% of the yearly plan. This is the foundation for the city to enter the peak shopping and tourism period from now until the end of the year.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, consumer trends are shifting towards high-quality goods. Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung - Deputy Head of Trade Management Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, said: "Consumers recently not only care about price, but also care a lot about the quality of goods. That is the reason why in the general growth of the city's retail industry, goods in the 'Responsible Green Tick' group have grown by 20-30%".
From the initial 8 participating units, most retail businesses in the area have now joined the “Responsible Green Tick” program. Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu – Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City – commented: “We expect this to be a good foundation to continue promoting the results achieved in the last months of the year”.
Achievements
Shopping malls also promote deep promotions during the two Shopping Seasons from June 15 to September 15 and November 15 to December 31. Ms. Eva Cecilia - Deputy General Manager of Crescent Mall - shared: "Initially, the business situation was quite cautious, but with the achievements in recent months and the upcoming peak season, we believe this growth momentum will continue. We will organize big discount events such as Independence Day Sale, Double Midnight Sale, End of Season Sale and the annual Lucky Draw program".
Shopping malls have stepped up promotions and attracted a large number of customers.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung - Deputy Head of Trade Management Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade added that the first Shopping Season will be highlighted by the City Sale program from August 14, then expanded to all commercial centers of Ho Chi Minh City and especially held at Ben Thanh station in September.
