Benchmark scores in many industries decrease

Sharing with VietNamNet, Mr. Pham Thai Son, Admissions Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, predicted that the benchmark score in 2025 will decrease for groups with Math and English. The decrease is from 0.5 - 1.5 points for groups A01, D01 because the English score may be much lower than last year. The remaining groups may not decrease or decrease very little.

This year, the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology exams are similar to last year, so the scores for the B00 and A00 groups will not decrease or decrease very little. The groups with Information Technology, Economic Education, and Law will have a floor score of 16 to 17 because the exams are easy and candidates do well on the exam.

“With this year’s high school graduation exam, the general assessment is that the English exam is difficult to get a high score. The average score for this subject is mainly 5, which means a decrease of about 1-2 points compared to last year. As for the Math subject, it is relatively difficult, with average candidates being able to get 6-7 points, good candidates about 8 points, and excellent candidates 9 points. The remaining high school graduation exam subjects are very easy,” said Mr. Son.

According to Mr. Son, if English had been a compulsory subject in the past, candidates taking this subject would certainly have been at a disadvantage. But this year, English is an elective subject, and only confident candidates will register for the exam, so their scores will have improved somewhat.

When considering university admission based on high school graduation exam scores, the higher score of the block is chosen. It is predicted that the standard score based on high school graduation exam scores this year will be 1-2 points lower than last year if candidates choose a block with English for admission. As for blocks with Math and Literature such as block A00 or C00 or B00, it is similar to last year because the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History and Geography are equivalent.

“This year, candidates who follow the D block trend will be at a disadvantage compared to other blocks. Because the D block is mainly language majors. There will definitely be a difference in English scores between candidates in big cities like Hanoi , Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces. Because students in these cities mostly choose English as their exam subject. It is predicted that universities such as Foreign Trade University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, Finance and Marketing, Economics and Law... will have to reduce their benchmark scores by about 1 point compared to last year,” Mr. Son analyzed.

For Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, Mr. Son said that this year's admission scores will be similar or lower than last year by about 1 point for the Economic and Commercial majors such as Marketing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Business Administration. The predicted admission scores for these majors are from 22 to 23 points.

For Tourism and Information Technology, this year's benchmark score will be about 0.5 points lower than last year, ranging from 20.5 to 21.5 points. Meanwhile, the benchmark score for Law and Economic Law is expected to be about 22 to 22.5 points. Chinese and English Language majors range from 22 to 23 points. As for other Engineering and Technology majors such as Food Technology, Electricity, Mechanics, Garment Technology, Biotechnology... the admission score will be similar to last year, ranging from 16 to 22 points.

In 2024, the benchmark score of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade ranges from 17 to 24.5. Accordingly, the major with the highest benchmark score is Marketing with 24.5. Majors with a benchmark score of 23.75 are Logistics and Supply Chain Management, E-Commerce. Majors with a benchmark score of 23.25 are: International Business, Chinese Language. Majors include English Language, Information Technology, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Food Technology. Many other majors have a benchmark score of 20.

In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade will conduct admission based on high school graduation exam results.

Admission uses high school academic results of grades 10, 11 and 12 for candidates with scores of 20 points or higher.

Admission will be based on the results of the Competency Assessment Exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025 for candidates who score 600 points or more for all majors. For the Law group, the minimum score must be 720 points, while the minimum Vietnamese score must be 180 points and the minimum Math score must be 180 points.

Direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Admission is based on the results of the specialized assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education combined with the high school study results according to the subject combination corresponding to each major. In which, the admission score is the total score of the specialized assessment exam, the average score of 3 years of subject 1, the average score of 3 years of subject 2 corresponding to the admission combination of each major reaching 20 points or more.
