The Golden Forest tourist area has a total area of 47 hectares. Coming here, visitors can immerse themselves in the poetic natural scenery, enjoy the fresh, cool air under the cool green forest canopy. Strolling through the bamboo forest with thousands of straight bamboo trees rustling in the wind, visitors can freely explore the natural scenery, take pictures, and capture memorable moments next to the huts, tents made from bamboo trees or giant bird nests designed on ancient trees. Right next to the bamboo forest is a thousand-year-old sacred banyan tree, a jade well, a water wheel, tables and chairs made from tree roots, statues of the 12 zodiac animals, a flower garden, a reed hill...
Currently, the flower garden and reed hill area in the Golden Forest Tourist Area has become a favorite "check-in" spot for young people and photography enthusiasts. The reed hill lies gently on the hillside with white and purple reeds planted alternately, swaying in the wind. In the middle of the hill are arranged miniature photo scenes, such as: Moon, bird cage, round wooden frame. The scenery here evokes a wild, poetic beauty. On sunny afternoons, the entire reed hill seems to light up in the sunset, creating an ideal backdrop for artistic and emotional photos.
Knowing about the reed grass hill from the social network Facebook, Ms. Lo Thi Ngoc, group 10 Chieng Le, To Hieu ward, shared: Coming here, I feel the cool air, the poetic scenery, there are many beautiful photo angles, helping me to preserve beautiful moments.
Not only tourists in Son La, many tourists from other provinces and cities also come to the Golden Forest Tourist Area to visit. Ms. Pham Thu Hang, a tourist from Hanoi , said: The scenery here has both the Thai ethnic identity with stilt houses, water wheels, and a bit of modernity in the flower garden, grass hills, and giant animal statues, which impressed me quite a bit. The air is cool, fresh, and the people are friendly. On the occasion of the September 2nd holiday, I will come back here with my friends and relatives.
The “check-in” area at the reed hill also attracts photographers. Mr. Pham Dung, a photographer from To Hieu ward, said: The scenery here has a romantic beauty, with nature in harmony and depth, creating a feeling of relaxation and closeness. The most ideal time to fully experience that beauty is around 8am or when the sun sets at around 5:30pm. When taking photos against the sun at these moments, the soft light passes through each clump of reed grass, creating beautiful photos.
After experiencing the natural landscape, visitors will enjoy the cuisine in the row of stilt houses designed according to the tradition of the Thai ethnic group. The space is airy, spacious, neatly arranged, decorated with Piêu scarves, hand-woven brocade cushions, bamboo and rattan trays, and elaborate and beautiful sticky rice trays. The typical dishes of the ethnic groups in the Northwest region, such as: grilled chicken, bamboo rice, grilled meat buried in ash, fish salad, sour soup, bon soup, drinking wine in jars buried in the ground..., will surely satisfy visitors. When night falls, visitors will be immersed in the cultural exchange, lighting a campfire, dancing, playing drums, gongs, holding hands in a circle around the flickering fire...
Mr. Pham Van Kien, Director of the Golden Forest Tourism Cooperative, said: We have preserved and maintained the original state of the forest and repaired and embellished some items, such as: paving stone steps up and down in the bamboo forest; building giant animal statues and renovating the lawns and flower gardens. Grasping the trends and tastes of tourists, we have built a number of check-in points, children's play areas, and replaced some items suitable for the natural landscape... From 2023 to now, the Cooperative has welcomed about 20,000 visitors to visit, experience, and relax. Since the beginning of the year, the Cooperative has welcomed more than 8,000 visitors.
To attract more and more tourists to the Golden Forest Tourist Area, the Cooperative continues to invest in building items such as: Bungalows, resort homestays, and adding herbal bath services. At the same time, connecting with local tours, promoting the image on media and social networks, and improving the quality of service to tourists. The Cooperative also hopes to access preferential loans to promote sustainable tourism development.
The fresh, cool air, along with the wild, poetic natural beauty, makes the Golden Forest Tourist Area an ideal, attractive destination, inviting tourists to visit and experience away from the hustle and bustle of urban life.
