(CPV) – In recent times, Trieu Van Border Post, Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard has always firmly protected sovereignty and border security, becoming a steel shield and a solid support for fishermen to go offshore.
Trieu Van Border Guard Station manages a 17.345 km long coastal border section, located in 03 communes: Trieu An, Trieu Van, Trieu Lang, Trieu Phong district. This is an area with an extremely important strategic position in terms of politics , economy, national defense, and security of Quang Tri province.
In 2024, Trieu Van Border Guard Station coordinated with 3 communes of Trieu An, Trieu Van, Trieu Lang to build 17 self-managed security and order teams and 15 solidarity boat teams at sea, with more than 500 voluntary members participating; organized 20 patrols and controls, with 257 officers and soldiers participating; organized 123 propaganda sessions for more than 5,000 people; distributed 1,200 leaflets on combating IUU fishing, presented 1,500 national flags, 120 photos of Uncle Ho to fishing boat owners and fishermen in the area. Propaganda and mobilization of people to hand over weapons, explosives, and illegal fishing tools; Thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the work of fighting against drugs and all kinds of crimes... Thanks to that, it has contributed to ensuring security and order in the area of responsibility, the people's border defense posture is always consolidated and maintained.

Mr. Hoang Chau - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Trieu An commune said: “Over the years, Trieu Van Border Guard Station and local authorities have always done a good job of coordinating in all areas of activities. In particular, with the characteristics of the coastal area, where there is a large fleet of boats and most of the fishermen are fishermen, officers and soldiers of Trieu Van Border Guard Station have not been afraid of hardship, sticking close to the area, "going to every alley, knocking on every door", being close to the people, supporting and standing side by side with the locality in all circumstances. Through the advocacy and propaganda work of Border Guard officers and soldiers, we have contributed to changing awareness as well as raising the sense of responsibility of the people in implementing the policies, guidelines, laws of the Party and the State; complying with the provisions of the Law on Fisheries and regulations against IUU fishing... Fishermen are assured, firmly going offshore, developing the economy and participating in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland".
Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Quang Thuyen, Political Commissar of Trieu Van Border Guard Station, said: “The unit is always proactive in grasping, forecasting, and accurately assessing the situation, closely coordinating with forces, advising authorities at all levels and the Provincial Border Guard Command to promptly and effectively resolve situations and incidents, avoiding being passive or surprised. In addition, the unit strictly maintains combat readiness; resolutely and effectively deploys the fight against all types of crimes; effectively carries out search and rescue work at sea, mobilizes resources to support and help fishermen to confidently go offshore, stick to the sea, and get rich from the sea.”
Standing side by side with fishermen on each journey to the sea, Trieu Van Border Guard Station also regularly coordinates with authorities at all levels to meet, encourage their spirit and present national flags and Uncle Ho's photos, thereby adding to the pride and national pride and creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere for fishermen, enthusiastically working and producing, determined to protect the homeland's sea and participate in local economic and social development.
Fisherman Nguyen Quang Hung, Phu Hoi village, Trieu An commune excitedly shared: “Every fishing trip we make, whether nearshore or offshore, we always have the Border Guards of Trieu Van station to support, help and encourage us both materially and spiritually. To contribute to protecting Vietnam's borders, seas and islands, we fishermen are determined to stick to our profession, protect the sea, fish in the right fishing grounds, practice safely and promptly notify the Border Guard and other authorities when we discover illegal acts and incidents at sea.”
Stationed in the coastal border area, along with the core task of protecting sovereignty and security of the sea route, Trieu Van Border Guard Station is always proactive and actively participates in supporting local authorities and people in flood and storm prevention, search and rescue at sea; ready to carry out tasks when situations arise... During the process of patrolling, searching and rescuing at sea, despite facing many hardships and dangers, the Border Guard soldiers are always united in overcoming difficulties, completing assigned tasks well, ensuring safety in all aspects.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ninh, owner of an offshore fishing boat in Trieu An commune, said: “Every time we go out to sea or enter a port, the Border Guards come down to the boat to encourage, visit, distribute leaflets and disseminate information to fishermen on the content of seafood exploitation in accordance with legal regulations and provide instructions on measures and contact information when support and help are needed. Seeing the Border Guard patrol boat, we feel very secure, take care of our business, production, and contribute our efforts to protect the sea and islands of the Fatherland more and more firmly.”

Promoting the qualities and bravery of Border Guard soldiers, in order to promptly help fishermen in the area, in the past year, the unit has mobilized all resources to build and repair 7 gratitude houses, worth 950 million VND; participated in 1,500 working days of cleaning the sea; rescue, search and rescue, and prevention of forest fires; sponsored 12 families with preferential policies, cared for 250 martyrs' graves, sponsored 8 children and raised 2 children in the program "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of Border Guard stations", with a monthly support level of 500,000 VND/child. Annually organizing the program "Border Spring - Warming the hearts of border people"; "Accompanying fishermen to stick to the sea", presenting hundreds of gifts to poor households, worth hundreds of millions of VND, promptly helping fishermen overcome difficulties and improve their lives.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, village 7, Trieu Van commune said: "Over the years, my family has always relied on the Border Guards to help and support me both materially and spiritually, so that I can overcome difficulties and raise 3 children to study. We are always grateful for their timely help, always teaching the children to try hard to study, to become exemplary citizens so as not to let them down."
Amidst countless difficulties and hardships on the white sand of the coastal border of Quang Tri province, the soldiers wearing green uniforms of Trieu Van Border Guard Station are always resilient, overcoming hardships and challenges, holding their guns firmly, patrolling to keep peace for their villages and hamlets, and firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sacred border and islands of the Fatherland.
The trust and affection of the people are a great source of encouragement, giving strength to the Border Guard soldiers to excellently fulfill their duties to the Fatherland and the people. Major Nguyen Xuan Vu, Head of Trieu Van Border Guard Station, affirmed: "The officers and soldiers of the unit always take the completion of political tasks, strengthening trust and building a close relationship between the army and the people, building a strong and prosperous border area as a driving force and goal to strive for"./.
