The 13th Vietnam-China People's Forum: Building a stronger people's foundation

On November 24, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries jointly organized the opening ceremony of the 13th Vietnam-China People's Forum with the theme "75 years of Vietnam-China Friendship: Building a stronger people's foundation".

Attending the ceremony were: Deputy Foreign Minister Ngo Le Van; President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son; Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Sun Xueqing; Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei; Head of the Chinese expert group Wei Huaxiang; experts, scholars and a large number of students representing the young generation of Vietnam and China.

Speaking at the opening of the Forum, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son said that the Vietnam-China People's Forum is an important people-to-people exchange mechanism to promote exchanges and cooperation, thereby enhancing political understanding and trust, consolidating a solid social foundation, and is highly appreciated by the leaders of the two countries.

The 13th Vietnam-China People's Forum was held in the context that the two countries are carrying out many activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations and important political and diplomatic events were held right after high-level visits by leaders of the two Parties and two States.

President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son emphasized that the world situation is undergoing fundamental changes of the times. More than ever, the Vietnam-China friendship plays an important role in promoting the relationship between the two peoples, while contributing to the peace and stability of countries in the region and the world.

The two sides need to increase the organization of forums, dialogues and exchanges similar to the Vietnam-China People's Forum on the people's channel and other channels to promote political trust and consolidate the foundation of Vietnam-China people-to-people relations.

Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son expressed his belief that, revolving around four groups of contents including 75 years of Vietnam-China friendship relations; national governance models and perspectives; economic-trade-investment cooperation and education-science-technology cooperation, the 13th Vietnam-China People's Forum will attract the attention, many discussions and contributions from experts and scholars of the two countries, contributing to promoting beneficial cooperation between the two countries and practical for building Vietnam-China relations in the new period.

At the opening ceremony, emphasizing the role of the Vietnam-China People's Forum in recent years, Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Sun Xueqing said that despite all the fluctuations in the world situation, the Vietnam-China People's Forum is like a loyal messenger, connecting the people of the two countries, converging mutual trust and reaching many common perceptions.

According to Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Sun Xueqing, the 13th Vietnam-China People's Forum should continue to create more opportunities for the youth of the two countries to conduct more exchange and cooperation activities. From there, it will contribute to consolidating and developing friendly relations, promoting common values ​​for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

Speaking at the Forum, reviewing historical milestones in the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Ha Vy said that 2025 is a special year in the relationship between the two countries, associated with the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's arrival in China to carry out revolutionary activities.

Emphasizing that the China-Vietnam friendship is a strong driving force for the two countries to realize the goal of prosperous development, Ambassador Ha Vy emphasized that China and Vietnam have both made many marks in the cause of national construction and development. This proves the superiority of the socialist regime. The China-Vietnam friendship has always been a solid pillar for the relationship between the two countries to move further, going deeper, more effective and substantive.

According to Ambassador Ha Vy, as one of the important activities of people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries, the 13th Vietnam-China People's Forum is an opportunity to review the good traditions in the relationship between the two countries, thereby helping the young generation to enhance understanding, promote enthusiasm and intelligence to continue to cultivate and build the "tree of friendship" between China and Vietnam to grow more and more.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ngo Le Van said that with the theme "75 years of Vietnam-China Friendship: Building a stronger people-to-people foundation", the 13th Vietnam-China People's Forum clearly demonstrated the strategic vision and spirit of the two Parties' senior leaders, affirming that the relationship between the two Parties and two countries can only be sustainable when nurtured by sincere feelings and closeness between the two peoples; affirming the determination of the two countries in making people-to-people exchange and cooperation a solid pillar of bilateral relations.

Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van highly appreciated the people's friendship organizations of the two countries' coordination in organizing many practical exchange activities in recent times, such as the People's Friendship Festival, the Border People's Festival... In particular, through 12 times of organization, the Vietnam-China People's Forum has become an important exchange channel for the two sides to openly, frankly and sincerely discuss the relationship between the two countries; at the same time, propose recommendations to contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

According to Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van, this year's Forum is an opportunity for experts, scholars and friendly personalities from both sides to review the deep friendship and close ties between the two countries in the past; at the same time, look to the future, discuss in depth the issues of the times, share experiences on the development of each Party and each country and propose and recommend solutions to continue deepening bilateral relations in the new situation, especially measures to promote and strengthen trust, friendship and cooperation between the people of the two countries.

Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van believes that the 13th Vietnam-China People's Forum will bring forth many new ideas and initiatives, contributing practically to building an increasingly strong people's foundation, further deepening the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, and promoting the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

The Vietnam-China People's Forum is a people's dialogue mechanism initiated by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries since 2010, and has been held 13 times so far. The Forum is held annually, alternating between the two countries, becoming one of the important cooperation mechanisms for the two sides to discuss measures to promote Vietnam-China friendship. The 13th Vietnam-China People's Forum took place from November 23-27, including a number of activities in Hanoi and Quang Ninh province. In 2024, the 12th Vietnam-China People's Forum will be held in Xiangtan city, Hunan province, China.
