The Military Technical Officer School is responsible for training technical command officers at the platoon level with university degrees in the following technical majors: Weapons, Ammunition, Military Vehicles, Armored Vehicles; training, coaching, and fostering technical staff and officers for international students according to the agreement between the Government, the Ministry of National Defense with the Lao People's Army and the Royal Cambodian Army; training human resources to serve the country's industrialization and modernization (civil system); fostering national defense and security knowledge for students and other subjects according to regulations.
At the same time, manage military students sent for training at non-military schools in the southern region; train new soldiers for southern units of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering; build a comprehensive, strong, and standardized "Exemplary Model" school; build a clean and strong Party organization, ready to receive and complete all assigned tasks.
From September 2024 to present, the school has strictly implemented the resolutions, conclusions, directives, plans, circulars, and instructions of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Department of Logistics and Technology on education , training, scientific research, and formal construction; strictly directed the implementation of the school year theme "Proactive, creative, continuing to innovate, improving the quality of education, training, and scientific research".
The school has implemented the annual training plan to ensure quality and progress; the learning and training results of the students have basically met and some have exceeded the targets set in the resolution. The work of selecting and recommending cadres to be trained and fostered inside and outside the army has been carried out in accordance with procedures and principles.
The school has completed five detailed training programs at college and intermediate levels, built three civil university training program frameworks and eight short-term training programs for Lao People's Army officers; and completed the development of five output standards for training programs.
In the 2024-2025 school year, the school accepted 36 scientific research tasks and compiled textbooks and documents; in 2025, it organized the evaluation and acceptance of 55 initiatives. The school has formed 4 specialized research groups in the fields of: Information technology, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, mechanical engineering, improvement of technical equipment and new materials; issued regulations to strengthen leadership responsibility in science, technology development and digital transformation.
After the on-site inspection, Major General Huynh Tan Hung acknowledged and commended the efforts and comprehensive results achieved by the school; at the same time, requested the Party Committee and the Board of Directors to continue to strictly implement the resolutions and directives of superiors on education and training; build regulations and discipline management; concretize them into the school's resolutions, plans and instructions; effectively implement the theme of the 2025-2026 school year: "Promoting digital transformation, digital technology and innovation to improve the quality of education and training, scientific research".
In the coming time, the school must fully implement the training plan for the subjects according to the targets; create breakthroughs in management and operation by applying technology and innovation; direct the review, development and adjustment of training programs and systems of regulations and rules to ensure consistency, modernity, and meet the requirements of output standards and new tasks; continue to innovate teaching, testing and assessment methods in a modern direction, increase the application of information technology and link training with the unit's practice.
Schools need to focus on training teachers and educational managers, improving professional qualifications, foreign languages, and digital skills; and organizing field trips for staff and lecturers.
Military science work needs to be deployed in the right direction, tasks must be accepted on schedule; network system security, digital library, textbooks and teaching materials must be managed safely. At the same time, the school needs to direct and carry out well the political, military, logistics, technical and financial work serving education and training; promote investment in classrooms and equipment according to the plan for the period 2025-2030. The whole school must tighten discipline, build a regular routine, and improve the military style of cadres, lecturers and students.
