The Kremlin said on June 24 that the head of the Wagner private military corporation Yevgeny Prigozhin will travel to Belarus and that the criminal case against him will be closed, and that the recent armed rebellion will not affect the special military operation in Ukraine.
In a statement to the press, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that according to the agreement proposed by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Wagner forces will withdraw to their field camp to end the bloodshed.
In addition, Mr. Prigozhin and members of Wagner will not be prosecuted, if they comply with the agreement.
Mr Peskov also denied that the incident would affect the special military operation in Ukraine. The Kremlin spokesman also thanked President Lukashenko for his role as an intermediary in helping to resolve the rebellion.
On the same day, TASS news agency reported that all previous restrictions imposed on highways in Russia have been lifted.
At 20:45 on June 24, the head of the Wagner Private Military Group Yevgheny Prigozhin wrote on Telegram that the force had stopped marching to Moscow and returned to field camps.
Previously, on June 23, the founder of the Wagner Private Military Group Yevgeny Prigozhin accused the Russian Ministry of Defense of attacking Wagner's logistics barracks and promised to respond.
For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense rejected the accusations and called it an information provocation.
Meanwhile, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has initiated a criminal case on inciting an armed uprising, and called on Mr. Prigozhin to stop his illegal actions.
