Actress Chu Vien Vien passed away at the age of 51

On May 21, Sohu newspaper reported that actress Zhou Yuanyuan had breathed her last after a long battle with cancer.

Her husband, actor Tan Bach Thanh, posted an obituary on behalf of the family at 11am, tearfully sharing: “Vien Vien has reached the place she wanted. During the past 5 years, she has always been optimistic and loved life, despite facing illness.”

Her family said that Chu Vien Vien passed away peacefully and serenely, following her wish of a simple funeral. She also reminded everyone not to waste any precious moments of life.

Chu Vien Vien was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 - the same year she starred in the touching film Giving You a Little Red Flower , which focuses on the family of a cancer patient. The role won her the Best Supporting Actress award at the Hundred Flowers Awards.

Previously, Chu Vien Vien had taken a break from acting to focus on taking care of her family. However, when she learned that she was sick, she decided to return to art, considering it a way to live each remaining day to the fullest. In the last 5 years of her life, she continued to participate in projects such as My Sister, Small Stories Like a Grain of Sand, Legend of the Sea and You Are My Hero .

Zhou Yuanyuan was born in 1974 in Qingdao, Shandong. She originally planned to work ineducation but missed the enrollment period. She later passed the entrance exams to three major schools: Beijing Film Academy, Central Academy of Drama, Shanghai Academy of Drama, and chose to study at Zhongxi.

Her name really rose to fame after the TV series Happy Life of Zhang Damin co-starring with Liang Guanhua. The work helped her win the Best Actress award at the Golden Eagle - one of the most prestigious awards in Chinese television.

Over the years that followed, Zhou Yuanyuan left her mark through a series of profound roles in The House of Nine Phoenixes, Tian Gou, Paradise Under the Sea, Goodbye, My Love ... With her friendly appearance and emotional acting style, she became a familiar face to Chinese audiences, especially the 8X generation.

Chu Vien Vien and Tan Bach Thanh were university classmates, got married in 2006 and had a daughter in 2008. The couple often took their daughter on trips together when they were not busy filming.
