In just two years, more than 4,000 low-rise and multi-storey houses were built, along with about 380 public and industrial buildings, completely replacing old houses.

Many modern buildings have sprung up in Samjiyon, including Begaebong Ski Resort, Samjiyon Hotel and Mount Paektu Museum. New residential buildings with diverse architecture are built, harmoniously blending with the landscape of Mount Paektu, creating a comfortable, modern living space while still retaining the national cultural characteristics.

Neighborhoods like Kwangmyongsong-dong and Pegaebong-dong have become symbols of the fusion of tradition and modernity.
