'Immortal Legion' parade in Vietnam celebrates victory over fascism

This event also commemorates the 50th anniversary of Vietnam's National Reunification Day and the 80th anniversary of Victory Day over fascism in the Great Patriotic War.

The event “Immortal Legion” has become a tradition both in Russia and around the world.

Russian Ambassador to Vietnam, Professor Bezdetko, said that the “Immortal Regiment” event has become a tradition both in Russia and around the world to commemorate those who participated in the Great Patriotic War.

The Ambassador shared that Russia has not forgotten the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who fought side by side with Soviet soldiers in the years 1941-1945. Their names are forever remembered on the memorial stele of the Memory Lane Museum in Patriot Park on the outskirts of Moscow.

In memory of the Vietnamese soldiers, a monument was erected on the territory of the complex depicting them in the uniform of the Soviet Red Army.

"We pay tribute to the heroes of the Vietnamese national liberation movement, who liberated South Vietnam and contributed to the reunification of the country 50 years ago," Ambassador Bezdetko said.

According to the Ambassador, the victory in 1945 fundamentally changed the world map, opening a new page in human history. He emphasized: "As long as we remember the events of those distant years, we still have hope that similar tragedies will not repeat themselves."

Lieutenant General Le Quang Bon, Principal of the Fire Prevention and Fighting University, said that this is not only a cultural activity but also an opportunity to remember and pay tribute to those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

This event demonstrates the spirit of solidarity, contributing to strengthening the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Russia in the context of the two countries celebrating many important historical milestones. 2025 also marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

The “Immortal Corps” parade was held to show respect, gratitude and appreciation to the heroes – veterans and martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the cause of national liberation, for the independence, freedom and peace of the two countries as well as world peace.

With the moral of “remembering the source of water”, the Vietnamese people will forever remember and be grateful for the efforts, contributions, losses and great sacrifices of countries, including the army and people of the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation today, to achieve the great victory against fascism, saving humanity from the disaster of extinction.

At the invitation of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defense of Vietnam sent forces to participate in the parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in the Russian Federation.

General Secretary To Lam will also pay an official visit to Russia to attend the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War.
