Tan Son Nhat Airport Operations Center said that airlines are currently having to increase empty ferries from local airports to Tan Son Nhat to wait, maintain and service aircraft and increase capacity for flights from Ho Chi Minh City to the Central and Northern regions.
Statistics from February 1 to February 4 show that there were more than 310 empty flights from airports to Tan Son Nhat. On February 3 alone, the number of empty flights of airlines reached 104. This also caused heavy losses for airlines.
On February 4, Tan Son Nhat Airport had 893 flights departing and arriving. The total number of passengers remained high, nearly 130,000 people.

The number of domestic passengers reached more than 60,571 people, a decrease of more than 1,000 people compared to February 3, but the pressure at the station is still very high because the delay has not ended due to the impact of the weather.
Tan Son Nhat Airport Operations Center said that from 0:00 on February 1 to 16:00 on February 3 (December 22-24), the airport operated more than 1,100 flights. Of these, 659 flights were delayed, accounting for nearly 60%.
The two airlines with the most delayed flights are Vietjet Air with 257 flights, accounting for more than 74% of the total number of flights operated by the airline. Vietnam Airlines had 209 delayed flights, accounting for more than 59%. These are the two airlines with the largest operating ratio.
In addition, some airlines such as Jetstar Pacific also had 44 delayed flights (accounting for 70%), Bamboo Airways had 43 flights (accounting for 57%), and Vietravel Airlines had 20 flights (accounting for 80%).
Also in the past 3 days, this airport had 40 flights canceled due to weather, accounting for 3.63% of the total number of flights operated.
