6 competition nights, 10 teams and tens of thousands of fireworks
DIFF 2025 is ready to open with a dramatic competition between Vietnam and Finland.
For the first time in history, a 6-week international fireworks festival was held in Vietnam, bringing together 10 of the world's top competing teams, 6 nights of spectacular performances, with tens of thousands of brilliant fireworks lighting up the sky over the Han River. According to Ms. Nadia, this year's competing teams were selected based on extremely strict standards to ensure artistic quality and professionalism, bringing the most eye-catching competitions to domestic and international audiences.
“With the scale of DIFF 2025, I have to say that this year's Da Nang International Fireworks Festival is the largest and most magnificent international fireworks festival in the history of DIFF seasons, with 10 participating teams that no other competition can compare to,” said a representative of the organizing unit Global 2000.
More than just a fireworks festival, DIFF 2025 is also considered a symbol of Vietnamese tourism .
Not stopping at fireworks, DIFF 2025 opens a new era of high-tech experiences. For the first time, the festival applies augmented reality (AR) technology, bringing a new and vivid multi-sensory experience to the audience.
In addition to the scale and quality, this year’s theme “New Era” is also considered the “glue” that connects the competing teams, creating a brilliant artistic picture of cultural exchange, the spirit of integration, innovation and development of humanity. The competing teams enthusiastically entered the game with a spirit of friendship, determined to conquer glory and bring the most explosive performances.
Dramatic opening between home team and defending champion
DIFF 2025 "opened fire" with the battle between host Da Nang - Vietnam team 1 and JoHo Pyro team from Finland, the reigning champion of DIFF 2024.
Representing the host country, Team Vietnam 1 will open with a performance called “Cultural Essence”, an elaborately staged work of art as a respectful greeting to friends from all over the world, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the city’s liberation. Lasting more than 20 minutes, the performance consists of 4 chapters, using more than 5,000 fireworks programmed to synchronize to the second, blending with music to paint an emotional symphony of light in the sky of the Han River.
The home team Da Nang is rushing to complete the final stages.
The highlight of the performance was the harmonious blend of traditional Vietnamese music and famous international songs. “On the background of vibrant rock music, combined with international melodies and music imbued with Vietnamese identity, we hope to convey the cultural quintessence of the people of Da Nang, of the Vietnamese nation - a culture imbued with national identity, both preserving long-standing traditional values and reaching out to integrate with the world”, shared Mr. Nguyen Hoang, captain of the Da Nang team.
Meanwhile, from the remote Aland Islands, Finnish pyrotechnic artists brought to Da Nang a performance called “Nordic Lights”, inspired by the aurora borealis, a brilliant symbol of Northern European nature. “By combining techniques with high technology in our performance, we hope to bring the audience the most surprising performance on this opening night,” said Mr. Johan Hollaender, captain of the Finnish team.
Defending champions Finland are ready to compete with host Vietnam on May 31.
More than just a technical performance, “Nordic Lights” is a journey through memories, leading the audience to discover the beauty of Finnish people and culture. With the spirit of a champion, the JoHo Pyro team promises to once again conquer the Han River sky with its own Nordic style.
The opening night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025 officially took place on the evening of May 31 and was broadcast live on VTV1, starting at 8:10 p.m. The event was organized by the Da Nang People's Committee, with the support of Sun Group.
